Chapter 112 Nancy’s Accident
Im sorry, sweetie. I can’t just abandon her and not care about her.”
After saying that, Nicholas got up and left.
As Nancy watched him leave, she chuckled scornfully.
That’s right. He can’t abandon her and not care about her, so instead, he’s abandoning me and ignoring me.
In his eyes, the only one who matters is that woman. Maybe he has long forgotten about how heavy the rain is today and how scared I am.
Once Nicholas left, Nancy got up as well.
From her spot on the second floor, she could still see Nicholas.
He rushed out into the rain without the umbrella. He didn’t take the car either.
He was soaking wet, but he was standing tall in the rain nonetheless.
To think that they would one day be strangers and no longer have anything to do with each other, Nancy somehow found the courage to rush after him.
“Nicholas…” she shouted to try and get him to hear her through the rain..
The heavy rain masked most of her voice, but Nicholas heard her anyway.
He turned around and saw that Nancy had come down. She was standing by the entrance and. getting pelted with rain. Without even hesitating, he ran straight back to her.
“Why did you come down?” he asked sternly.
“It’s raining heavily, and the weather’s cold. You’re not dressed warmly enough. Your body won’t be able to take it. Hurry up and go back inside.”
Nancy didn’t speak. She calmly stared at him.
“Hurry up. I’m leaving the car and the umbrella for you. I called Lynn. He’ll come and pick you up later.”
“What about you? Are you going over by yourself?”
Just how deeply did he love her that he was willing to risk his life without any regard for his own safety?
“Don’t worry about me. I know what I’m doing.”
Just then, Lynn drove the car over. He got out and rushed over.

“Take Nancy back and look after her, Nicholas instructed Lynn before disappearing into the rain.
“I’ll drive you back. Mrs. Sallow,” Lynn said courteously while holding a large umbrella.
Nancy looked at the umbrella before abruptly saying, “Give the umbrella to him.”
“This umbrella is designed to keep all the rain out. Mr. Sallow told me to use it to shield you.”
Nancy was smiling, but her gaze was cold. “Give it to him. I don’t need it.”
She didn’t even need him, let alone his umbrella.
“Mrs. Sallow, that’s…” Lynn was conflicted.
“I’ll do it myself then.” Nancy reached out to take the umbrella, so Lynn quickly said, “Give me at moment, Mrs. Sallow. I’ll do it right away.”
“She’s being ridiculous!”
Nicholas was furious when he heard that Nancy insisted on giving him the umbrella.
“Mrs. Sallow seemed adamant to me, Mr. Sallow. I’m sure she’s just worried about you. You should at least just take it for the sake of appearance,” Lynn suggested.
Nicholas didn’t take the umbrella. He clenched his jaw and growled, “I won’t take back what I’ve given away. Since she doesn’t want it, just throw it away!”
With a flick of his hand, he flung the umbrella to the ground.
Despite the heavy rain in the dark of night, Nancy clearly saw him dumping the umbrella.
At first, the umbrella flapped in the wind, but soon, it was too wet and heavy to move.
Nancy’s heart shattered into pieces.
She felt as if the umbrella were her.
During the height of summer, she ignored the scorching heat just to give him some coolness. In the dead of winter, she ignored the chilling cold just to give him a bit of warmth.
She ran to him with a heart full of sincerity, but he didn’t want it.
He could toss it aside as if it were nothing.
“Just give up, Nancy! He doesn’t love you. He’ll never love you. Haven’t you given up yet?”
Yeah. It’s time to give up.
I should’ve given up a long ago.

The rain was getting heavier. Nicholas disappeared into the car, and the car drove off in the rain.
It went further and further away until it faded from sight.
Just then. Lynn came over. He was about to speak when Nancy said, “You don’t need to take me back. Go with him.”
Lynn was put in a difficult position. “Mr. Sallow gave me an order, Mrs. Sallow.”
“Do you know where he went off to by himself?”
Lynn shook his head.
“Madelline got kidnapped. He went to save her. I don’t need to tell you how dangerous kidnappers can be. You know how risky this is for him. Are you sure you’re not going to help him?”
Lynn was thunderstruck. “I-Is that true, Mrs. Sallow?”
“Of course. Why else would he be so anxious? He insisted on rushing off without regard for anything else.”
“Got it, Mrs. Sallow. I’m leaving right away. Don’t worry. I’ll keep Mr. Sallow safe.”
“Alright.”
Before leaving. Lynn hired a cab for Nancy.
He only drove off once Nancy got into the car.
If Lynn had known about the impending accident, he would never have allowed her to get inside the car.
Inside the hired car, Nancy sat in silence.
She placed her hand protectively on her belly.
