Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) novel Chapter 161

Chapter 161 Ex-wife To Younger Sister

Nancy’s words hung in the air, and the bathroom fell eerily silent, with even the trickling water audibly clear. However, as seconds turned into minutes, her wait for a response yielded nothing. When she finally opened her eyes and realized that Nicholas had left, a bitter smile crossed her face. It seemed her joke had fallen flat. “You’ve failed, Nancy, she thought. He didn’t even want to listen.

When he returned to the bathroom, he saw her leaning on the edge of the bathtub with her arms hanging down, smiling seductively.

Seeing him enter, she sluggishly gazed at him, her eyes gradually becoming alluring. “It seems like you. truly have no interest in my jokes. Fine, I won’t tell you anymore.”

Nicholas set down Nancy’s pajamas and suddenly spoke up. “Take a shower. I’ll wait outside.”

Without replying, she leaned against the bathtub, smiling. “Nicholas, are you an idiot? I’m drunk and can’t even stand. How am I going to take a shower? I want you to help me. Once she finished, the air suddenly fell silent.

He looked at her in disbelief. “What did you say?”

“It’s fine if you don’t want to.” Nancy pouted.

At that moment, Nicholas looked at her, gulping. Of course, he was willing to do that, but he didn’t want to take advantage of her.

“Forget it. You can leave!” She pointed at the door.

Suddenly, his words slipped out. “I’m willing to help.”

However, she laughed it off. “But now I don’t want to anymore.” She just felt like teasing him, using it as a way to momentarily lighten her mood, given how down she was feeling. It was her way of finding a little solace in the moment.

Once the door closed, Nancy sat inside the bathtub. She suddenly covered her eyes with both hands and lowered herself deep into the water. Feeling her whole body floating in the water, she actually felt more relaxed than ever. It seemed like she wasn’t that exhausted anymore. After finishing her shower, she put on her pajamas and headed out.

Seeing her flushed cheeks, Nicholas thought she was still heavily drunk and felt slightly worried. But she dodged his hand just as he reached out. “I’m fine. Your turn to take a shower.”

“Sure.”

When Nicholas exited the bathroom after his shower, the lights in the room had been turned off. He felt empty and somewhat flustered. At that moment, he was suddenly afraid that Nancy might have left. That feeling remained until he saw the wall and the desk lamps were still on. When he saw her curled up on the couch, covered with a blanket, he felt relieved. However, his expression darkened a little when he approached her.

She had one hand on the couch while holding a wine glass in her other hand. The glass was filled with. red wine, and the bottle on the table was a third empty.

“Why are you drinking again?” Nicholas frowned.

“I can’t sleep, so I’m drinking to help me sleep better.” As she spoke, Nancy smiled seductively. “Can you sleep? Why don’t you have a glass, too? It’s not fun drinking alone.”

“Stop drinking. You’ve had enough for today.”

Once Nicholas spoke, he reached for her glass, but she naturally wouldn’t give it to him that easily. She dodged to the side with the red wine glass still steadily in her hand.

At that moment, he went behind her and grabbed the glass in her hand, ordering, “Put it down. You should stop drinking.

But she refused, so she gripped tightly onto the glass,

He frowned deeply while her expression contorted, signaling her displeasure.

After a moment of silence, Nicholas finally spoke up, but his tone was no longer as gentle as before but had turned very stern. “How can a woman drink all day? Nancy, have you become so degraded after our divorce?” He was angry when he saw her drinking wine and said some harsh words in his anger. In fact, he immediately regretted his words after saying them. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take them back, could he?

“Degraded?” Nancy repeated the word and thought about it carefully. Suddenly, she smiled. “So, this is how you see me. Yes, Nicholas. I’m not only ordinary but can also become degraded, so we are not the same kind of people. You’re all high and noble, so the more you should stay away from me. Why did you bring me home?”

“So?” He raised his brow in dissatisfaction as he looked at her. “I watched Christian almost bring you home, Nancy. Or was that what you expected? Has my appearance disrupted your plans and ruined your chance with your admirer?” Once he finished, he sneered.

Meanwhile, Nancy smiled as well, but her smile seemed bitter and wry. But she decided not to say anything because she had repeatedly denied it several times, yet he never believed her. Since that was the case, she saw no need to explain things. “You’re right. So, what if I plan to go home with him? Who are you to meddle in my business? I told you before that you should leave me alone. Your nobility is too much for my ordinary world.”

Nicholas scoffed. “Your world doesn’t accept me, but it can accept Christian? Nancy, I have to warn you. Do you honestly think he is just an ordinary cop?”

“What do you mean?” She looked at him.

But he didn’t speak again.

Therefore, Nancy pursed her lips. “That has nothing to do with you. We’re divorced, after all.”

“Even so, I can still look after you,” Nicholas demanded.

“On what basis?” Of course, she was displeased by that. She had never seen him so concerned for her when they were still married, yet now he restricted her every move after they divorced. How could such a rule exist?
