Chapter 178 Nancy, I Love You Too (2)
Nancy shook her head, resisting Nicholas. “Don’t tell me. Nicholas. I don’t want to hear it.”
Nicholas cupped her face in his hands, lowering his head until his nose touched hers, and let out a soft chuckle. Silly girl, I knew you must have misunderstood me. “Nancy…” he began, gazing at her. In that moment, his eyes shone brightly, as if countless stars were twinkling within them. Then, his thin lips parted, and he spoke with the gentlest words, “Listen to me: I’ve never considered your feelings for me to be a nuisance. On the contrary, I’m very, very happy about it.”
“Why?” Nancy asked stupidly. She felt her brain capacity was insufficient to think clearly.
“Silly girl, it’s because I love you, too!”
When those words exploded in her head, Nancy’s first thought was that she must be dreaming. How else could she hear such words? He loves me? Does he really love me?
After ten years, this was almost something she didn’t dare to dream about. When she married him, her only hope was to spend the rest of their lives together; just being with him brought her immense joy and satisfaction. Later, witnessing his unique affection and care for Madelline, she didn’t even dare to hope. But now, he was telling her that he loved her!
She was stunned and could hardly think. It took her a while to find her voice again. “But aren’t you in love with-
Nicholas interrupted her before she could finish. “Nancy, that was in the past. I know I didn’t treat you well back then; I always broke your heart and made you upset, but it’s different now. I know that I love you. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have made so many mistakes, let alone hurt you,” he said, bringing her hand to his lips and kissing it repeatedly. “It’s all my fault. Do you know how upset I was when you asked for a divorce? I didn’t want to be apart from you at all, but you were so determined. I even considered resorting to dirty means to keep you with me for as long as possible, but Nancy, whether it was then or now, I don’t want to force you. I know you’re angry with me for the mistakes I’ve made. You can do whatever you want to me. Just don’t ignore me.”
Nancy’s eyes widened in disbelief; if she hadn’t heard it herself, she wouldn’t have dared to believe her own ears. This was the scenario she had dreamt of so many times, but now that it was actually happening, she suddenly forgot how to react. It took a while before she regained her composure. The next moment, she looked up, and her eyes instantly filled with tears. Soon, tears cascaded down her cheeks uncontrollably.
It had been ten years; she had loved him for ten years, during which time she had married him and separated from him. Just when she thought everything was a one-woman show, he told her that he loved her, too. The moment she realized this, she couldn’t hold back anymore. It was as if the more than 3,000 days and nights of unrequited love and yearning had found an outlet.
She didn’t even know how she had gotten through so many days and nights. She had thought that it would be like this for the rest of her life-that she would grow old and die alone harboring this unrequited love. But now, she finally understood that all her efforts were meaningful This is enough This is more than enough.
“Why are you’rrying? Did I say something wrong? Or did I upsci you in some way” Nicholas asked, his heart aching when he saw her cry

“No, it’s not that.” Nancy shook her head. She earnestly explained, “I’m not upset. I’m just…” Suddenly, she couldn’t find the right word to describe her feelings. So, she threw herself into his arms, squeezing her petite figure into his broad embrace. She wanted to hold him tight and feel his warmth and breath.
So, this is what being in love feels like. It’s sweet and reassuring. This is no longer unrequited love; it’s not just me giving anymore. I love him so, so much. “Nicholas…” she said, calling his name. In reality, she didn’t know. what she wanted to say. She just wanted to call his name..
“Hmm?” Nicholas responded softly, his tone lifting at the end as he silently waited for her to continue. However, after waiting for a while, he didn’t hear anything from her. He lowered his head and asked. tenderly, “Why don’t you say anything? I’m still waiting.”
Nancy smiled and snuggled back into his embrace. She replied in a low voice, “It’s nothing. I just wanted to call your name.”
“Do you really have nothing to say?” he asked.
Nancy shook her head slightly. She felt incredibly happy just lying in his arms like this, feeling his breath and listening to his heartbeat. For the first time, she realized how fulfilling and joyful it was to have their hearts connected and to be in love with each other. Even if they didn’t do anything, just. cuddling each other in silence would bring tremendous satisfaction.
Apparently, Nicholas didn’t think so. “Nancy…” This time, it was his turn to call her name.
“Mm-hmm, Nancy responded, thinking he just wanted to call her name like she had just done.
The next moment, however, she realized she was wrong-Nicholas turned on the shower again and stood under the showerhead with her in his arms. In an instant, the hot water poured over both of them, the streams of warm water feeling incredibly soothing. “Are you cold?” he asked.
Nancy shook her head and replied, “No, I’m not. I feel very comfortable.”
“Do you want to feel even more comfortable, then?”
“Huh?” Nancy looked up in puzzlement.
“Nancy, I want to do what you didn’t finish just now. Are you ready?”
