Chapter 23 Gave Up When It Hurts 

Nancy’s heart was in chaos. She suddenly didn’t know what to do. 

Nicholas decided to bring Madelline here because he couldn’t wait anymore, so he wanted to introduce Madelline’s identity to everyone. 

What about her? 

What was her status? 

Nancy’s face instantly turned pale. The phone fell from her hand. 

Seeing this, Aunt Gloria picked it up quickly and said, “Mrs. Sallow, what’s wrong? You look so pale. Did the Young Master say something?” 

Nancy nodded blankly. “No.” 

“Sorry, I have to go to the bathroom.” 

Nancy stood next to the sink, suddenly pouring cold water on her face as if she had gone crazy. 

She didn’t know how many times she washed her face. Her whole cheeks were so cold that there. was no warmth, and her hands were so cold that they turned red. She raised her head, brushed her hair, and looked at herself. 

In the mirror, she was obviously wearing the most gorgeous clothes, simple yet pretty makeup, an expensive head ornament, and a necklace. However, at this moment, she felt like she was a clown, incredibly messy. 

She obviously agreed that as soon as Grandpa’s birthday was over today, she would mention the divorce to him tomorrow.. 

Just half a day. 

Only half a day was left, but he couldn’t wait any longer. 

Nancy took a long time in the bathroom, and the water kept flowing. 

Aunt Gloria was afraid that something would happen to her. She knocked on the door worriedly. “Mrs. Sallow, are you okay?” 

Nancy didn’t answer.

“Are you still waiting for Young Master?”

In the bathroom, Nancy thought a hundred times whether to go downstairs or not.

When Nancy went downstairs, Grandpa had been there. Almost all the guests had arrived, and only two seats remained empty. 

Nancy glanced and found that the remaining ones belonged to her and Nicholas.

Nancy came down. Jacob was delighted and took her hand. “Nancy, come here and sit next to me.” 

“Okay, Grandpa.” 

Nancy nodded obediently and sat down next to Jacob. 

At this point, Jacob saw the vacant seat next to Nancy. Displeased, he immediately frowned and asked, “Where is he? He is still not here. What is he busy with?” 

Nancy smiled and grabbed Jacob’s arm. She replied sweetly, “Grandpa, you’ve wronged my husband. There really is something urgent happened in the company that he had to go.” 

“We all know that Grandpa’s birthday is the most important thing, but if something happens to the company, Grandpa won’t be happy either. That is the hard work of your whole life.” 

After Nancy finished speaking, Jacob’s face relaxed a lot.

“You know how to talk. That kid can make me furious as soon as he opens his mouth.” 

Across the round table, Alice watched Nancy and Jacob talking. She looked furious when Nancy coaxed Jacob to smile. 

Especially when she found out that the woman was the same person she had just pushed into the swimming pool, she became even more furious. 

Yvette tugged at Alice’s clothes. “Alice, who is that? I’ve never seen her before. Why did she suddenly sit next to your grandpa?” 

“Look at you. You are sitting thousands of miles away from your grandpa. You’re so stupid. Such a good seat so close to Grandpa. You can talk to him if you sit there. Why don’t you sit there? You let an outsider take advantage of it.” 

Alice felt wronged. “Mom, don’t talk nonsense. How do you know I didn’t go to take that seat?”

“After finding out where my grandpa’s seat was, I immediately sat beside him and waited. As a result, my grandpa sent me away as soon as he came, saying that it was someone else’s, and asked me to sit here.” 

“Just admit that you’re stupid. Isn’t there another seat next to Grandpa?” 

After Yvette finished speaking, she stared at the seat on the other side of Jacob. 

Alice pouted and said impatiently, “Mom, what do you know? That’s Nicholas’ seat. Do you dare 

to sit there?” 

“Speaking of Nicholas, why hasn’t he come? How could he be late on his grandpa’s birthday? Let me tell you…. 

Just when she was halfway through her words, Uncle Joe ran over happily. “Young Master is back. 

At the next moment, Nicholas appeared at the entrance of the hall. He wore the black suit in the morning, walked through tables and seats, and finally walked to Jacob and sat on his left side. 

Nancy was stunned. 

Why was he alone? 

Didn’t he bring Madelline with him? 

As soon as Nicholas arrived, lunch started.
