Clearly taken aback by Barbara's request, Remington had his brows furrow slightly.

"Godmother, I can't agree to that, I'm married."

"No! sweetheart. I know you and Lizetta have already filed for divorce. If it hadn't been for that incident, you wouldn't have married her in the first place. You would have waited for Stella! Now that you've filed for divorce and Stella has been found, it's fate. You gotta promise me!"

As Barbara spoke, she clasped Eileen's hand tightly with Remington's.

Remington's expression darkened slightly, and he instinctively tried to withdraw his hand.

But Barbara's grip was so tight, and her hands were so frail and trembling.

Remington's arm stiffened, and he barely opened his lips to speak.

"Godmother, I'm sorry. But rest assured, even if I don't marry Stella, I will always take care of her."

After Remington spoke, his gaze solemnly swept over Eileen.

Having understood what he meant, Eileen quickly said, "Mom, don't worry, I trust Remington. He will take good care of me! Don't talk anymore, it's time to go to the operating room. The doctor also stepped forward, urgently saying, "The patient must go into surgery now! We can't delay any longer."

Barbara's eyes were rolling back, but she stubbornly clung to Remington's hand.
