Liz felt a sudden pang of guilt and immediately turned to press the call button. Meanwhile, Remington was already cradling the baby, his cold gaze fixed on Stella.

"Is this what you call caring for the child? Since you've been here, have you even once asked about the baby's condition?"

Stella was taken aback, her lips parting as she tried to defend herself. But confronted with Remington's sharp, cutting gaze, she found herself speechless.

Taking a step toward Liz, Remington put some distance between him and Stella, his voice cold once more. "I'm not blind or heartless. Save your pitiful tricks!"

"It's not like that, Remington, I really..." Stella's panic rose, and she took a step forward, trying to get closer.

Remington's eyes hardened. "Stay back! Your smell is overwhelming us."

Stella had only been to the bar, having a single drink before receiving Anna's call. She instinctively sniffed at herself, and though there was a hint of alcohol, it wasn't overwhelming. However, Remington's disdainful look and his step back made her feel like an outright drunkard.

The baby in Remington's arms seemed to understand his words, giving Stella a glance before turning his little head to bury it in Remington's chest.

Remington tensed up. It was his first time holding such a small, delicate baby. When he first caught the baby and the baby smiled at him, he felt inexplicably stunned. This also caused a slight delay in his reaction, nearly leading Liz to misinterpret his attitude and leave.
