Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 911

Lizetta had barely pushed Remington into the guest room when she realized she didn’t need to follow him inside.

She pulled her hand back and urged, “Go on, take a shower. I’ll go check on Yoli.”

As she turned around, hand reaching for the door handle, Remington’s large hand suddenly appeared over her shoulder and pressed against the door, blocking her escape.

His grip was firm, the veins on the back of his hand standing out in a way that was both strong and undeniably attractive.

Lizetta’s gaze flicked to his hand, and her heart skipped a beat, her back stiffening.

“Liz, what’s got you all tense?”

Remington leaned in closer, his voice a low murmur in her ear, with a hint of teasing.

Truth was, Lizetta was a bit on edge.

Since they’d reunited, this was the first time she and Remington were alone in a room together.

Behind her was a large bed, and Remington’s recent behavior had her mind racing with all kinds of inappropriate scenarios.

“I’m not tense? You need to shower and change out of those wet clothes before you catch a cold and start whining for me to take care of you.”

Last night, Remington had spent hours kneeling under the stars, catching a chill, and he’d been running a fever this morning.

She’d completely forgotten about that when she urged him into the pool earlier.

Feeling a little guilty and concerned, Lizetta turned to push him toward the bathroom.

She wanted him to stop clinging to her so recklessly.

But in her haste, she forgot that Remington was standing so close behind her.

As she turned abruptly, her lips accidentally brushed against his neck.

The soft contact, the sweet scent.

Lizetta bit her lip, her cheeks turning a vivid shade of pink.

Remington lowered his gaze, eyes fixed on her rapidly fluttering lashes, and cut her off.

“Did you mean to do that?”

Lizetta instinctively looked up to glare at him, but it was as if Remington had been waiting for that exact moment.

As she lifted her head, her lips parted, and like a hunter who had set his sights, he leaned in and captured that cherry hue with precision.

Their breaths mingled, and this time, his kiss was bold and without restraint.

Lizetta’s eyes fluttered shut, his hands pulling her closer into his embrace, deepening the kiss.

His chest was searing hot, and Lizetta felt as if she might combust, caught up in the dizzying sensation.

At some point, she found herself wrapping her arms around his neck.

Remington felt her response and his heart skipped a beat.

Lizetta let out a soft whimper, her eyes suddenly opening, filled with a mix of daze and panic.

She didn’t know whether Remington had been watching her the entire time, or if he opened his eyes because he sensed her unease.

In any case, Lizetta found herself lost in the dark depths of his gaze.

Like a dangerous whirlpool ready to swallow her whole.

Her panic grew, her body both trembling and weak, her lashes fluttering helplessly.

She was torn between wanting him to continue and fearing what might come next.

Suddenly, Remington’s hand, which had been trailing along her back, dropped away. He stepped back slightly, his breath quick and heavy.

Lizetta’s forehead rested against his chest, where she could hear the rapid, fervent thumping of his heart.

It beat wildly, just for her.

Her cheeks still burning, she bit her lip, silently trying to steady her breathing and shrink away.

“Don’t bite. I won’t touch you.”

Even though her head was bowed, and he couldn’t see her, it was like he knew exactly what she was doing. His deep voice came from above, as his hand gently pinched her cheek.
