She Accepted Divorce He Panicked (Scarlett and Sebastian) novel Chapter 243

With Ava and Jack Fuller hovering at the front door, Scar doesn’t even step out of the elevator, but just remains inside for the underground parking lot. She is so drowned in Damian’s words that she barely makes it out before the door closes on her—

“You are a lot like Mom,”

That’s what he said. Even now Scar’s heart is pumping fast at that. Is she? She doesn’t even remember being held in that woman’s arms. She doesn’t remember the home she briefly stayed in. She doesn’t even remember the car accident which should have left some impression even in her childish mind.

But she grew up into a woman a lot like her angel-like mother?

What did she blurt? She was so daunted in the face that she murmured: “I have always imagined her to be like one of those…”

Elegant ladies. Those who would sit in a café at 3pm, watching out the window with 20-dollar-coffee in hand.

“Like a lady, huh?” Damian grins, seeing through her easily, “Nahhhh. Far from it. Mom is cool, almost hippy like. She would drive us out in the night to catch a show in the desert, versus taking us to a show on Broadway.”

Every little bit of that woman amazes Scar, and she’s greedy for knowing more, even though she's addicted.

But Damian wouldn’t tell her more—

“I’ll tell you more at dinner!”

Even after arriving at her car already, Scar can’t help rolling her eyes again at her mischievous brother. He did that just to make sure she wouldn’t stand him off.

She wouldn’t. She wants to hear more about Emma…if not getting to know her brother a little bit more – A reason she wouldn’t admit even to herself.

“You are here for me, aren’t you?!”

Anna Fuller’s voice rings in the quiet parking lot. By instinct, Scar lowers her body as she scouts around. Not too far from her car stands Anna Fuller, blocking a blue Lamborghini. No need to wonder who’s sitting in there.

Doesn’t want to get her attention, Scar gives up unlocking her car, but sneaks a little and hides behind a column, listening.

It surprises Scar that Johnny Vanderbilt is behind the wheel himself, seemingly alone in the car. Hearing Anna’s confrontation, the man just answers with a short honk of the horn.

“You aren’t here for the necklace, are you?” Anna wouldn’t move, “You knew the necklace is under my daughter, and you pushed the price higher than necessary. Jack thinks you would come for Scarlett, but you could have done that in a million other ways, can’t you?”

Silence.

“I know you missed me,” Anna announces with a stern tone.
