Scarlett’s POV

I used to argue with Ava, when I cared.

I don’t care about Sebastian anymore, and I no longer have any desire to “win” over her, especially in a meaningless argument. She has his heart, end of story. I just want to protect my friend right now.

She is shocked, and embarrassed, and nervous. But she reacts to ill–attention directed at me like that’s instinct built inside her.
