Just as Moira thought Barclay was going to kiss her, the warm breath suddenly disappeared.
Moira instinctively opened her eyes and found herself locked in his gaze.
Barclay had already retreated a bit, looking at her with a smile. "You're right. It might not be appropriate."
Moira stared at his lips, feeling strangely disappointed at his words.
Her facial expression must have given her away because Barclay looked at her and remarked, "You seem quite disappointed?"
Startled, Moira hurriedly denied. "No, I'm not, I didn't, I wouldn't!"
Barclay smiled at her with a meaningful gaze. "Alright then."
Feeling guilty, Moira said, "I'll go practice the piano!"
Without waiting for a response, she ran upstairs and into the music room.
Her heart was pounding so fast. It felt like it might burst out of her chest at any moment.
Moira covered her flushed cheeks and took a moment to calm down.
She thought, 'Oh, I've really changed. I'm starting to think about men.'
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she focused and began playing "Symphony No. 5" by Beethoven.
As Moira immersed herself in the music, practicing for three hours straight, her fingers began to ache.
After a while, she checked her phone and saw several messages from Juliet.
Juliet: [Someone took a photo of you and Mr. Covington last night, and it looks amazing!]
Juliet: [The photos of you two have spread in our circle, and last night's incident has become gossip. Thalia and Alfie are being teased as if they were a fake couple!]
Juliet: [Thalia is going to be furious this time!]
The messages were sent two hours ago. Moira downloaded the photos and couldn't help but blush when she saw them.
Juliet was right. The photos were incredibly captivating.
