Chapter 226: Memory Lost
Christopher POV
The words hit me like a physical blow.
Angela, it’s me, Christopher, I said, leaning closet. “Don’t you recognize me?”
She shook her head slightly, then winced at the movement. Her fingers clutched the white hospital sheets as confusion clouded her
eyes.
How was this possible? She’d only fallen–hit her head on the marble floor. Damn Jack for not reporting the severity immediately. A simple fall shouldn’t cause memory loss.
“Ah!
Angela attempted to sit up, only to gasp in pain.
“Don’t move,” I said, gently pressing her shoulders back against the pillow. “You’re injured. You need to rest.”
“Where am I? What happened to me?”
“You’re in a hospital. Do you remember why you came here? To my island?”
She closed her eyes, clearly trying to force the memories to surface. After several moments, her face contorted in pain.
“My head… it hurts so much when I try to remember.”
“Don’t push yourself,” I said, reaching for a tissue to gently dab at the beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead.
She looked so vulnerable, so different from the strong, defiant woman I knew her to be.
“I want every test done immediately,” I told Jack. ” I don’t care who’s waiting, Angela goes first.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll arrange it now.“Jack nodded, already pulling out his phone.
When they wheeled her bed toward radiology, I walked alongside, refusing to leave her.
For those minutes, I wasn’t the man she’d run from. I was her only familiar anchor in a world suddenly made strange.
Night had fallen by the time all tests were completed.
Angela now lay in the best private suite the hospital offered, exhaustion finally claiming her. Her breathing had settled into the deep, even rhythm of sleep.
I pulled the blanket higher, tucking it carefully around her shoulders.
“Mr. Blake,” the doctor said from the doorway, “we’ll have the complete results by morning. We’re expediting the analysis.”
I nodded, not taking my eyes off Angela. “Good.”
Jack appeared with a tray. “Sir, I’ve brought you dinner. Perhaps you should get some rest, sir. I can stay with her.”
“No,” I replied coldly. “I’ll remain here.”

Chapter 226 Memory Lost
After they left, I settled into the chair beside Angela’s bed, watching the gentle rise and fall of her chest,
Even now, Injured and lost in sleep, she was beautiful serene, elegit, perfect.
The irony wasn’t lost on me. Angela had come here to rescue Shaw, ly to lose her memory of him of everything. Including the fact that she’d been running from me just days ago.
Whatever happened next, I knew one thing with absolute certainty: he could not return to Shaw. Even if she never chase me. I would ensure she never went back to the man who had hurt her once before.
This memory loss–this accident–was a gift from fate. A chance to define our relationship on my terms.
I must have dozed off in the chair because 1 jerked awake at the sound of footsteps. fack stood over me, draping a jacket across my shoulders.
“Get out,” I hissed, keeping my voice low. “There’s no need to check on us. I don’t want anyone disturbing her rest.”
Morning light filtered through the blinds when the doctor returned with his clipboard.
“She has a mild concussion,” he explained, glancing at Angela’s sleeping form. “The memory loss appears to be trauma–induced amnesia from the impact.”
“Will she recover?” I asked.
The doctor’s response was exactly what I’d hoped to hear. “It’s difficult to say. This type of amnesia can be temporary, resolving in days or weeks. But in some cases, it can persist much longer, especially if there were pre–existing emotional stressors.”
He flipped through his notes. “Familiar surroundings might help trigger her memory. Places, objects, people she knows well–these could all serve as memory catalysts.”
“I’ll do everything possible to help her recover,” I assured him, already calculating how to control which memories might return- and which would remain buried.
When I returned to the room after speaking with the doctor, I found Angela awake and arguing with my security personnel.
“Please, I need to leave,” she insisted, her voice tinged with desperation. “There’s something important I have to do.”
The guard blocked the doorway, respectfully but firmly. “I’m sorry, ma’am. Mr. Blake left strict instructions-”
“Angela?” I interrupted, approaching from behind the guard. “What’s so urgent?”
She turned, her eyes widening slightly as they fixed on me.
“I just spoke with your doctor about your condition,” I said gently.
She frowned, clearly frustrated. “I need to go. Please understand, it’s extremely important.”
“What is it you need to do?” I asked, watching her carefully.
Angela opened her mouth to answer, then stopped. Confusion swept across her face as she realized she couldn’t remember seemed so urgent moments before.
“I… I don’t know. But I feel like there’s something critical I’m forgetting.”
