The Secret Pregnancy of the Billionaire’s Ex–Wife
Chapter 231: I Didn’t Force Her
Christopher Pov
The Mediterranean sun cast a goklen glow over the gardens below a watched Angela from the top–floor balcony.
Her slender figure moved gracefully ausang the flowers, necasionally stopping to examine a bloom,
A smile tugged at my lips.
It had been three days since her accident, and still, no memories had returned. I hoped she would remain this innocent and carefree forever, completely mine.
“Mr. Blake.”
I turned to find Jack standing in the doorway, his expression tense.
“The local police are here. They’re asking to speak with Mrs. Wilson
“Why?” I kept my voice measured, betraying none of the alarm that immediately shot through me.
Jack shifted uncomfortably. “At the airport three days ago, Mrs. Wilson apparently spoke with a female tourist. The woman noticed something… off about her demeanor and reported a potential kidnapping to authorities.”
I considered this development carefully. Angela, still disoriented from her memory loss, might have seemed distressed to an observant stranger. I hadn’t anticipated this complication
“They want to speak with her directly,” Jack continued. “Given her current condition… this could be problematic.”
To Jack’s evident surprise, I nodded. “Let them see her.”
“Sir?”
“There’s nothing to worry about,” I said, allowing a slight smile to form. “She came here willingly. I didn’t force her.“
Jack nodded, clearly relieved by my confidence, unaware of the bitter irony of my words.
Angela had indeed come “willingly“—but only because I’d used Sean as leverage. The threat to her ex–husband’s safety had been the only reason she’d agreed to meet me.
Angela returned to her suite after her garden walk, her movements betraying exhaustion. She seemed surprised to find me waiting
for her.
“You look tired, I observed. “Are you hungry?”
“We just ate not long ago,” she replied, her eyelids heavy.
know, but you barely touched your food, Should I have something light sent up?”
Angela sank into a plush chair by the window. “I am hungry, but I feel… wired. Too alert to eat properly,”
“Il arrange for something light,” I offered. Minutes later, a tray arrived with delicate pastries, fresh fruit, and a bowl of clear broth.
Angela chose the soup, lifting the spoon to her lips. I couldn’t help staring as she sipped the broth, transfixed by the curve of her

mouth
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked suddenly, lowering the spoon.
“What’s wrong
with looking at my fiancée?” I countered, the lie now practiced and smooth.
She shifted uncomfortably. “It feels… Intense.”
I changed the subject. “Do you remember meeting anyone at the airport three days ago? A woman perhaps?”
“No. Why
“The police are here,” 1 explained. “A tourist reported concerns that might be under duress. They want to speak with you.”
Angela set down her soup bowl. “What should I tell themar“
“The truth would be best. Tell them you’re here of your own free will.
She studied me with surprising acuity
someone who’d lost her memory. “Are we even in a relationship, Christopher?”
The directness of her question caught me off guard.
“Of course,we’re lovers,” I said.
Angela fell silent, processing this information. “What do you need me to tell the police?*
“Whatever feels right to you. About us, tell them whatever you want:
“What if I tell them you’re my kidnapper?” she asked, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
I shook my head, managing a rueful smile. “That would cause me considerable trouble.“.
“I understand what to do,” she said softly.
In the corridor outside, I paced while Angela spoke with the officers in the sitting room. Jack hovered nearby, clearly uncomfortable.
“Sir, are you sure it was wise to leave her alone with them?”
I glanced at him, “Why so nervous, Jack?”
“I just” He faltered. “Perhaps I’m overthinking things.
You m
must knew her better than anyone.”
Before long, the police emerged. Jack immediately approached them
“I’m sure this was all a misunderstanding,” he said. “Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Blake have been friends for years.”
The officers exchanged glances. “We’ve confirmed there’s no cause for concern. Mrs. Wilson was quite clear that shes here voluntarily.
“Excellent, lack said, relief evident in his voice.
