Sean remained silent for a moment, his eyes distant as I gazed at the horizon where the ocean met the evening sky.
“We’ve been busy,” he finally answered, squeezing my hand gently, all my fault I didn’t know you enjoyed walks like this before.
“That’s a shame,” I said, watching the golden light of sunset transform the landscape around us. “This place is beautiful.”
Sean’s expression softened as he turned to face me. “If you enjoy walking like this, I can take you whenever you want. We could make it a regular thing–morning walks along the beach, evening strils through the garden,”
“I like that.” I replied, surprised by bow natural it felt to plan a future with this man I barely remembered.
“Tell me more about us,” I requested softly, my eyes bright with curity
Sean glanced at me, his lips curving upward. “Of course,”
We continued along the tree–lined path, Sean’s voice washing over as he recounted stories from our school days–the private academies we’d attended, the social events our families had hosted, the secret hiding places we’d found in Central Park
I listened quietly, occasionally responding with fragments of half–remembered images that flickered at the edges of my

Suddenly, Sean stopped walking, his breath catching slightly.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, noticing the change in his demeanor.
“Nothing” he answered, but his voice sounded strained, as though he was suppressing something
I studied his face, noting the tightness around his eyes, the slight peness beneath his tan
Then realization struck me like a physical blow–Sean’s wound. The injury Christopher bad inflicted was still healing. How could I have forgotten something so important?
“Your injury,” I said, my feet halting abruptly. Guilt washed over me as I remembered the blood–soaked bandage I’d seen earlier. “We shouldn’t be walking so far. You should be resting.”
“I’m fine,” Sean insisted, though his expression betrayed his discomfit.
“Wait,” I called out, stopping him. “Let’s go back,”
“What is it?” Sean turned to me, eyebrow raised. “It’s still early. Mother is probably telling stories to the children. We should return

abdominal wound needs to be checked.” I insisted, concern evident in my voice. “Did you bring medical supplies with you?”
Sean nodded reluctantly. “Thomas packed everything in a medical kit, I can handle it.”
I stepped closer, my voice softening as I met his gaze. “Please, let’s go back to the house so you can rest. Your wound is more important than a garden stroll.”

My breath caught as he leaned down, his forehead pressing against wine. Our breaths mingled in the evening air, his eyes capturing mine with an intensity that made my heart race.
“Next time you want to persuade ine to do something, he murmured “you should use actions, not words. Understand?”
The intimacy of the moment sent a tremor through me. My eyelashes fluttered nervously as I placed my hands against his chest, carefully avoiding the area where 1 knew his worind was,
His expression softened as he noticed my concern. Instead of the ki 1 half–expected, be simply pressed his lips gently to my forehead before drawing back.
“Let’s go,” he said, taking my hand and leading me toward the main hous
I followed, my steps slightly unsteady, feeling oddly disappointed,
The tension between us had built so palpably that I’d expected… something more–Though I hadn’t consciously anticipated a more intimate moment, I felt a strange sense of loss that it hadn’t happened.
Instinctively, my hand rose to my chest, confused by my own reaction. This man was technically a stranger to my conscious mind, yet my body responded with unmistakable desire.
“Does your chest hurt?” Sean asked, noticing my gesture.
“No,” I replied quickly, embarrassed that he’d caught me. Changing the subject, I asked, “What did the children do today? Did they enjoy spending time with Victoria?”
As we approached the house, the glow of warm lights welcomed us back into the elegant beach manor that belonged to

I’ve already discussed it with my mother,” Sean explained, setting the medical kit on the bedside table. “Tonight they’ll rest in the room next door with her.”
So we’re sleeping together?” The question
came out before I could think better of it.
“What else did you expect?” Sean raised an eyebrow, his expression amused. “This is the room prepared for us,”
Heat crept
into my cheeks as I realized the implications. We would be sharing a bed–alone. The thought sent an unexpected flutter through my stomach. To distract myself, I focused on the more pressing concern.
“Let me take a look at your wound first,” I insisted.
