The Secret Pregnancy of the Billionaire’s Ex–Wife
Chapter 283: Should We Invite Him to Our Wedding?
The wedding was set for just a month from now.
“Isn’t that rushing things?” I asked Sean as we lay in bed one morning, the early light filtering through the curtains. “We should give ourselves more time to plan everything.”
Sean rolled over, propping himself up on one elbow. “I’d marry you tomorrow if I could,” he said, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on my arm. “The only reason I’m waiting a month is because Victoria insists on making this wedding bigger than our first one.
I laughed softly. “We’re already married once. Do we really need all the ceremony again?”
“This time is different,” Sean said, his voice growing serious. “We have Aria and Ethan now. I don’t just want this to be special for you–I want our kids to see it too.” His eyes locked with mine. “Havert you noticed how excited Aria is?”
He was right. Aria had been bouncing off the walls since we told the children about the wedding. She’d spent hours flipping through magazines, pointing at flower girl dresses, asking if she could carry a “big bouquet just like Mommy.”
“Can I throw the flowers really high?” throw flowers!”
asked just yesterday, her eyes wide with excitement. “Grandma Victoria said I get to
Even Ethan seemed quietly pleased, asking thoughtful questions about what he’d need to do as the ring bearer.
That night, after we finally managed to get the kids to sleep (Aria had insisted on trying on her shoes “just one more time), Sean and I retreated to the study to work on the guest list.
I settled into the leather chair across from him, pen poised over paper, and suddenly remembered Olivia. My stomach twisted uncomfortably.
“What’s wrong?” Sean asked, noticing my hesitation.
“I just remembered Olivia,” I admitted.
“Who’s Olivia?”
“My friend from Italy. I met her when I lived there, and I stayed at her place when I first returned to New York a few months ago.” I trailed off, not sure how to explain the rest delicately.
Sean’s brow furrowed in concentration, then his eyes widened. “Wait, is she the one who came to my hotel room that night? When I was drunk?”
“Don’t you have her contact information?” I asked. “That night when Olivia and I ran into you at the bar, you were completely wasted. We were the ones who took you back to your hotel.”
I nodded, feeling my cheeks warm. “That’s her. She’s had a crush on you forever. The thing is, I never told her about our past. I told her my husband was dead.”
“Dead?” Sean’s eyebrows shot up.
“I didn’t want any connection to you back then,” I explained, feeling defensive. And I definitely didn’t want you finding out about the twins. So I made up a story.” I sighed, remembering the web of lies. “Then that night when you showed up drunk and held me, I told her I didn’t even know you–that you were just some stranger harassing me.”

“And she went to my hotel to. what? Comfort me?” Sean asked incredulously.
“She stayed with you all night,” I confirmed, watching his expression carefully.
Sean ran a hand through his hair, looking genuinely perplexed. “I don’t remember much from that night, but I definitely didn’t-”
“I know,” I cut him off. “That’s not what I’m worried about. The problem is, how do I explain everything now? With your position in New York, our wedding will be news. I can’t hide it from her.”
“So tell her the truth.”
“It’s not that simple. She’ll realize I’ve been lying to her for years.”
I punched Sean lightly in the chest. “This is all your fault,” I said, only half–joking. “If you weren’t so charming, my friend wouldn’t have fallen for you. Why didn’t you just reject her clearly that night?

“I never led any woman on,” Sean protested, catching my hand. “How was I supposed to know your friend had feelings for me? Why didn’t you just explain the situation to her yourself?” He paused, then offered, “If it’s too awkward for you, I can talk to her.”
“Absolutely not,” I said quickly. “That would only make it worse. I’ll handle it myself.” I glared at him, though there wasn’t much
heat behind it.
Sean pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me from behind. “Don’t be angry,” he murmured, his lips finding the sensitive spot just below my ear. “Doesn’t this just prove what a catch your husband is?”
I tried to maintain my irritation, but it was melting under his touch. We should finish the guest list,” I protested weakly.
“It can wait,” he said, trailing kisses down my neck. “We should get some rest.”
