Athena covered her mouth and Snickered. “After some of my mother’s relatives found out that Zayn had become a celebrity, they rushed to Kitmore City. They wanted to guilt–trip our family into giving them some benefits. But of course, we won’t let them get what they want.”
She spent about ten minutes explaining the past grudges and the fight between the Donovan family and the Stevens family.
While she was speaking, Matthew always listened attentively and rarely asked questions.
After listening, he commented, “Even though your relatives are poor and my relatives are rich, they’re all the same. I don’t have a good relationship with my relatives either. I’ve been fighting with them for so many years.”
Athena sighed. “The internal conflict between the Graham family is probably an upgraded version of the conflict between the Donovan and Stevens families. At the very least, the conflict between the Donovan family and the Stevens family has not reached the extent where one party has to die.”
Just as she finished speaking, she received another message on her phone.
When she saw it, she was amused again. “Looks like there’s a continuation.”
She further explained, “Gavin rushed back to Kitmore City and went to the police station to pick up his wife. After seeing Joel, the two brothers almost fought at the police station again. Because they were biological brothers, the police station mediated, but both parties asked each other for compensation and refused to give in to each other. Quentin tried to mediate the fight but the two brothers refused to listen.
“They even scolded him for being biased. The two brothers‘ wives beat each other up, so they’re even. However, Joel also hit say that Gavin’s wife. Although Joel is in the wrong, all he said was, ‘If you want money, I don’t have it. If you want my life, just take it! Arthur arrived afterwards and paid 2000 dollars to Gavin’s wife before the couple decided to let things go. What’s funny is that the two brothers had just left the police station when they started fighting outside again. They then cut ties and they would never talk to each other again. After that, they parted ways.”
She made a “V” gesture as she spoke and added with a smile, “Our family’s goal has been achieved.”
Matthew fed her some food as he asked, “What about Maria’s side?”
Athena looked at her phone as she ate. She replied, “Ronan is diagnosed with a fracture and needs surgery, while Maria is with him. Maria then video–called the Stevens family in front of him.
“Firstly, Violet wanted to help Joel look after the child but she couldn’t find the time. Next, Quentin said that he wanted to mediate a fight between his two sons. Meanwhile, his wife said that she wanted to help Gavin babysit his children but she didn’t have the time to go over as well.
“Afterwards, Joel said that since he’s the second son, he can’t get the house and he is not obligated to take care of the elderly. In the future, he won’t care about the lives of the four elderly anymore.
“Lastly, Gavin said that he had the responsibility to support his parents but not his grandparents. If his grandparents wanted him to take care of them, they had to persuade the Donovan family to transfer the house to his name, and he would only take care of his grandparents once he gets the house.”
She waved her phone before concluding, “In other words, none of the members of the Stevens family are willing to go to the hospital to take care of Ronan and none of them are willing to pay the hospital bills, so Ronan is crying in the hospital.*
Matthew smiled and asked, “Although you guys hate Ronan, you can’t really leave him to die, right?”
“He’s my mother’s biological father. There’s nothing I can do.” Athena sighed before continuing, “After Maria contacted the Stevens family, he video–called my mother. My mother pretended to be asleep so the fake nurse answered Maria’s call and told Maria that my mother would only be discharged a few days later.
“Maria then helped Ronan pay all the expenses and even found a nurse to take care of him. Ronan then took the opportunity to say that he wanted to live with the Donovan family. Maria asked him to call Brandon personally and tell him. However, Brandon said that if the Stevens family dared to step foot in the Donovan family, he would run away from home and never return. Hence, Ronan’had no choice but to give up that idea.”
“It’s indeed not easy to get rid of such relatives.” Matthew smiled and looked at her. “You’ve been dealing with the Stevens family these few days. Do you feel happy?”
Athena was taken aback for a moment but quickly shook her head. “I’m a little happy to see them suffer, but doing something like this is like squashing a bug to me. I don’t feel any sense of accomplishment or satisfaction.”
Athena was curious so she asked, “Is there such a place? If you ask us to rent a mansion for them and find a few maids to wait on them, my brothers will explode.”
