Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) novel Chapter 106

“I know you’re angry at me, Winnie. I don’t want you to go to bed angry. Also, I don’t want you to leave me without saying anything, so I must explain myself.” Xavier sounded very sincere.

As a result, Winnie could not bear to lash out at him.

After all, the person who hit her and humiliated her was Benjamin, not Xavier.

“It seems you already know what happened,” she said.

“Yes. I asked Louis, and he told me everything. I would like to apologize to you on behalf of my father.”

“How is that any good?” she asked petulantly.

“I just don’t want you to resent my father. If anything, you should blame me because I didn’t tell him I’m still alive. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have done what he did.”

“Oh? Are you saying that I deserved that slap?”

Xavier frowned. “That’s not what I mean, Winnie. I promise you I’ll get my father to apologize to you once I’ve settled everything, okay?”

In actuality, Winnie was not an unreasonable woman. Besides, she was moved by Xavier’s sincerity.

However, she had her dignity. After all, her face was swollen from that slap.

“Hmph! By the time you’ve settled everything, it’s going to be too late! You can’t manage to do anything now, can you? Even Josiah is better than you.”

“Josiah? What do you mean?” Xavier flashed a smile because he could tell that Winnie’s mood was getting better. It seems like she’s not as angry anymore.

“He’s great! When your dad was scolding me and hitting me, he kept protecting me. He had even defended me and taken care of my face. He’s so much better than you.”

Xavier chuckled. She’s so cute when she’s throwing a tantrum.

However, jealousy and guilt soon overwhelmed him.

He was blaming himself for not being there when she needed him.

At the same time, he was jealous of his friend. “Speaking of Josiah, Louis told me Josiah had gone after you. Where is he now? Is he at the Garland residence?”

“No. He left. He thought I was foolish for putting myself in trouble by coming back to the Garland residence. However, I know what I’m doing. I have my own plans.”

“Oh, I see. He’s not that great after all. Judging by how you were praising him, I thought he would’ve gone into the Garland residence to get you out.”

Xavier was not happy with the fact that Winnie was praising Josiah. Hence, he wanted to feel better about himself at Josiah’s expense.

Winnie was not stupid, though. She knew what Xavier was up to.

With a smile, she retorted, “Well, at least Dr. Houghton came over, no? How about you? Where are you now?”

Xavier went silent for a while. With a stern tone, he said, “Winnie, you know I can’t show myself, right?”

“Yes. I know. If someone finds out about it, all the previous efforts would be for nothing. I understand the situation. If I were you, I wouldn’t show myself as well.”

“You’re right,” Xavier replied softly. After that, he suddenly asked, “What if I show up in front of you now? Will you stop being angry at me?”

“Now?” Winnie chuckled. “Who do you think you are? The Flash? How are you supposed to just show up in the Garland residence all the way from Aqua Moana?”

Xavier chuckled as well. His voice was tinged with delight as he queried, “Is your room the first from the left on the second floor?”

Winnie was shocked. “How did you know? Are you outside?”

Xavier let out a sigh inwardly. This woman isn’t stupid at all. In fact, she’s brilliant! She’s so smart that I can’t even surprise her!

“Pull the curtains aside and look at the tallest tree across the road,” he stated.

Winnie quickly pulled the curtains aside.

At the same time, Xavier rolled down his window and got his driver to blink the car’s headlights.

While sitting in the car, he stared at Winnie and waved his phone at her.

Winnie found herself smiling when she saw Xavier. “Aren’t you afraid that someone might see you? If someone sees you, the news about you coming back to life will be all over Avenport tomorrow, you know?”

“That’s why I must leave soon.”

“So soon?”

“What’s wrong? You can’t bear to see me leave?”

“Ha! I just feel bad for you, that’s all. You came all the way here just for a phone call.”

“Nonsense,” Xavier answered in a serious tone. “I get to see you smile. As long as you stop being angry at me, it’s all worth it.”

Winnie’s smile grew wider at that. “All right, then. For your sake, I’ll forget about the slap your dad had given me. Hurry up and leave, okay?”

“Look at me.”

“I am. It’s so dark, though. What do you want to do?”

Instead of talking, Xavier flashed half a heart shape with his fingers.

After doing that, he realized how ridiculous and childish his gesture was.

Before he realized it, Winnie had already seen it.

In truth, Winnie found his gesture childish as well.

“Yes.” Xavier nodded.

Josiah was baffled. “I know you can’t go to a hospital now because you can’t be seen alive, but why can’t that person be sent to the hospital? You could’ve just called an ambulance. Why did you bring the person home instead?”

“I know you have a lot of questions.” Xavier furrowed his brows. “Take a look inside, and you’ll have your answer.”

“All right, then. Whatever you say.” Josiah helplessly tidied up his medical bag and brought it into the room.

Xavier followed behind in his wheelchair.

Once he entered the room, Josiah was flabbergasted.

He saw a woman with messy hair and blood all over her body.

The woman’s hair was covering her face, so Josiah could not see who she was.

Furthermore, the woman had her hands and feet tightly bound, and her mouth was stuffed.

Josiah turned back and looked at Xavier in disbelief. “What have you done?”

Still frowning, Xavier uttered, “Look closer. That’s Yulissa. I don’t know if she had run into me on purpose because she was drug-driving.”

“She’s a drug addict?” questioned Josiah, shocked.

“Yes. That’s why I had people tie her up. She saw me when she got out of her car. I didn’t call the police and send her to a hospital because I have questions for her. Her injury isn’t serious; it’s mainly because of the addiction.”

“What the f*ck? She looks exactly like a drug addict! I’ll give her an injection. How about your cars? Have you gotten that settled?”

“Yes. Deal with her, will you?”

Half an hour later, Yulissa gradually regained consciousness.

However, it did not take her long to crave drugs again. “Give it to me. Give me another shot. Please!”

She was in a daze when she grabbed onto Josiah’s shirt.

Josiah frowned and pulled his shirt away from her. “Wake up, will you? I’m a doctor. I’m not your drug dealer. How did you end up like this, Yulissa?”

Yulissa returned to her senses upon hearing someone calling her name, so she sat up right away.

When her eyes landed on Xavier, she started sobbing uncontrollably. Throwing herself at the man, she exclaimed, “Xavier? It’s you! When I got into the accident, I thought I was dead, but then I saw you! At first, I thought I was in hell. However, I later realized I was wrong. Although I deserve to be in hell, you don’t! You’ve never done anything wrong, so you shouldn’t end up in hell! That was when I realized you’re still alive! Xavier, you have no idea how good it is for you to be alive!”

Yulissa was holding Xavier’s hand and crying her lungs out.

Glaring at her, Xavier shoved her aside. “Stop acting. You’re disgusting.”
