Xavier took the initiative to pat Josiah’s shoulder. Frowning, he apologized, “I’m sorry. I was too nervous just now. You know that she’s mentally challenged, right? That’s why she always gets bullied outside. She’s my woman, so I hope that I can protect her well.”
Josiah said, “It’s fine. I understand. But then, there’s something I feel that you should know.”
“What is it?”
“She’s not mentally ill at all. Do you still not see it now?”
Xavier frowned. He glanced at Winnie before looking at Josiah again. “Do you know what you’re talking about? I remember you took the exam yourself when you were applying for your doctor’s license. Why are you so unprofessional now?”
Josiah was rendered speechless for a moment. “Fine. We can take it slow. After all, there’s still plenty of time left.”
“That’s true.” Winnie looked at Josiah. “Let’s do it step by step.”
After saying that, she turned to ask Xavier, “By the way, why are you here? Are you going out?”
“Yes.” Xavier held her hand, grabbing it tightly. “I planned to go and see you initially.”
Winnie shot him a glance. “Didn’t I ask you to stay in the office and wait for me?”
“Are you telling me what to do now? I’ve waited for you for quite some time, but you didn’t show up. Can’t I go out to find you?” Xavier retorted.
“Of course you can!” Winnie didn’t want to argue with him. “Hurry up and go up. I need your company’s Public Relations Department to help me with something.”
With that said, the group of people walked toward the elevator. Xavier held Winnie’s hand tightly throughout the time.
While they were walking, Winnie received a text message on her phone. She wanted to reply to the message, so she withdrew her hand from Xavier’s to type her reply.
Before she could finish replying, Xavier took over her hand again.
This time, he was no longer satisfied with holding her hand anymore. He interlocked his fingers with hers.
Moreover, he even lifted Winnie’s hand to plant a kiss on the back of her hand.
If that had happened in the past, Josiah would not feel anything even if he had had to watch the two flirt with each other for a long time.
However, now that he realized he had some feelings for Winnie, he started finding it hard to look at how close the two were.
“Hey, can you stop showing off? There are still two single men here!”
Xavier didn’t even take Josiah’s words seriously. “Just bear with it.”
Josiah shoved Xavier lightly, scolding, “You’re so cruel!”
After walking into the elevator, Xavier pressed the button for the first floor.
Seeing that, Josiah glanced at Xavier suspiciously. “What are you doing? Don’t tell me that you’ve forgotten which floor your office is at.”
Having said that, he reached out his hand, attempting to press the button to the eighteenth floor.
Nevertheless, Louis quickly stopped him in time. With a bright smile, he said, “Dr. Houghton, Mr. Xavier knows what he’s doing.”
“Really?” Josiah withdrew his hand.
However, he couldn’t help but glance at Winnie.
The two exchanged glances for a second. Then, Winnie shook her head, indicating that she didn’t know what Xavier was planning to do next.
The elevator was small. Moreover, the four of them were the only people inside. Naturally, Xavier noticed the nonverbal interaction between Josiah and Winnie.
Usually, he wouldn’t be bothered by such a thing. He would also not interrogate any of them in front of everyone.
