Winnie overslept because she had a difficult time falling asleep in the first half of the night and was only able to sleep soundly in the second half of the night.

If Josiah had not knocked on the door, she could have slept until two o’clock in the afternoon.

“Where did he go?”

“Where would he go then? I just called him, and no one answered the phone. He probably didn’t answer because he was driving.”

“Could it be that he went to your house to look for Rachel?” Josiah made a guess.

Josiah knitted his brows and commented, “To be honest, I think you seem to underestimate how persistent he is with you. Even if he can’t find Rachel this time, he most likely won’t give up.”

“We’ll talk about that later.” For the first time ever, Winnie felt worn out.

Even though Xavier had issues with his body and memory even before, she had never felt so uneasy.

However, things were different this time. He could remember everyone but her. It made her feel extremely upset.

The two did not waste any time. Soon, they drove out of the mansion area.

Unexpectedly, Winnie received a call from Michael while they were on the way to Aqua Moana.

Michael sounded very anxious. “Ms. Garland, I have bad news for you. Mr. Fairchild came to my cousin’s house and forcibly took Rach away!”

“What?” Winnie was perplexed. “How did he discover your cousin’s house?”

Letting out a sigh, Michael replied, “I’m not sure when he gave Rach a phone. It appears that she sent Mr. Fairchild her location. What should I do now?”

“What else can we do?” Josiah, who was seated next to Winnie, could hear what Michael was saying because of the latter’s loud voice. “Why didn’t anyone stop him when he tried to take her away? Don’t you have a big family there? You could have at least called the police if you couldn’t stop him.”

“I was initially unaware of it. After I woke up in the morning, I went out to get some breakfast. When I returned home, my cousin informed me that Rach had left with someone.”

“What in the world?” Josiah was slightly irritated. “You just said she was taken away, and now you say she left with someone. I’m beginning to question if it was actually Xavier who took your daughter away.”

“It’s definitely Mr. Fairchild. His photo can be found on the internet. There’s no way my cousin would make a mistake.”

“Your cousin is a—” Josiah lost his composure and almost called Michael’s cousin a moron, but Winnie interrupted him at that moment.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Zimmerman. If Xavier really did take her away, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Let me make a call first. Wait for my news.”

“Okay. Sorry for troubling you, Ms. Garland.”

“No problem.” After hanging up, Winnie told Josiah to call Xavier.

“It’s inconvenient to call while driving. I’ll give you my phone, and you can call him.” As Josiah spoke, he fished out his phone and handed it to Winnie.
