While doing so, she explained the various scenarios to Xavier. “Firstly, it isn’t a trap, and what Wesley says is true. Secondly, it’s a trap. Christopher’s plan has been exposed, and he has even revealed my role. Hence, Wesley is here to bring me back so that they can extract more information from me. Thirdly, Christopher did send him. However, given the grudge he holds against Christopher, he would definitely not obey the latter unconditionally. Instead, he might do something to me in an attempt to humiliate Christopher.”
Winnie’s analysis was clear as she laid out the three possibilities concisely.
Staring at her busy figure, Xavier couldn’t help but sigh.
Why is she so smart to the extent that she doesn’t need me?
“What’s wrong? Why are you sighing?” Sensing something wrong with Xavier, Winnie stopped what she was doing.
Instead of replying right away, Xavier walked up to her and gave her a hug from behind, squeezing her tightly in his arms.
Winnie tilted her head to look at him and followed up with a peck on his cheek. “What’s wrong? Are you worried about me?”
The upset Xavier shot a glare at her. “Isn’t it obvious? Actually, my conclusion is the same as yours. I think the third possibility is the likeliest one. This so-called Wesley might not have been sent personally by Christopher. Instead, he could’ve come at someone else’s behest, for example, Harold.
“Nonetheless, Christopher might be aware of the matter, just that he doesn’t have a way of letting you know. Since Christopher is at odds with Wesley, there’s no way he would’ve sent the latter to pick you up. Also, this man is obviously scum. Once you get into his car, he’ll definitely be up to no good.”
“That’s right, but isn’t all of this within our expectations already?” Winnie tried to reassure Xavier. “As long as I’m prepared ahead of time, everything will be fine.”
Crinkling his brows together, Xavier tightened his hug on Winnie. “What preparations have you made?”
Winnie let out a chuckle as a cunning glint flashed across her eyes. “Do you want to try it?”
At that moment, Xavier didn’t have a clue as to what she was up to. “What do you mean?”
While laughing, Winnie backed herself into Xavier’s arms.
“Hug me tight. As long as I have one hand free, I can turn the situation around and kill you in three moves. Haha, from the look on your face, you don’t seem to believe me. In that case, give it a try. I’ll convince you with a real-life demonstration.”
Xavier’s frown deepened. Even though he knew Winnie wasn’t joking, he was curious to see it for himself.
With his current position of embracing her from behind, he had his arms around her hips, leaving both her arms free.
Since she claimed that all she needed was one hand, he was both skeptical and curious at the same time.
Consequently, he tightened his grip around her.
As for Winnie, her response was lightning fast.
Before Xavier could even see what was going on, a sharp and menacing elbow had stopped right in front of his eyes.
It was so close that the distance before contact was no more than a centimeter.
In actual combat, once his eyes were hurt or he lost his vision, his ability to fight would be greatly handicapped. If the injury was serious, he could even collapse to the ground, ending up a cripple.
Meanwhile, after staying stationary for two seconds, Winnie quickly retracted her elbow.
Nevertheless, she didn’t put her hands down. Instead, she pulled off the necklace she was wearing and whipped it around Xavier’s neck.
For this sequence, Xavier got a clear view of what was going on.
Winnie’s necklace had a hidden mechanism that allowed it to change shape and be extended. When it wrapped around the artery on his neck, it morphed into something that was even sharper than real metal wire.
Under those circumstances, a slight pull from her would be all it took to instantaneously sever his artery.
“What do you think?” This time, Winnie retracted her necklace in a flash. “Did I kill you within three moves?”
“You did,” Xavier admitted. He then teased her, “You’re really fast. As they say, speed is the only thing that’s undefeatable in martial arts.”
“You’re just exaggerating.” Winnie flashed him a smile. “Practice makes perfect. That’s all.”
After humming in agreement, a serious expression descended upon Xavier’s face. “What if that person points a gun at your head?”
“I’m still not afraid,” Winnie replied in a nonchalant tone. “Firstly, I still have the gift of the gab. Secondly, I’m filthy rich. Considering how materialistic people here are, I can afford to pay them off. Thirdly, am I not oozing with seductive charm?”
“Nonsense!” At the mention of her charm, Xavier released her immediately and started rummaging through the clothes in her bag.
“What the hell is this? Why doesn’t it even have shoulder straps?”
“This is an off-shoulder dress.”
“What about this? Can this even be called a piece of clothing? It’s just two pieces of cloth stitched together!”
“Oh, that’s just a tube. Don’t worry. I don’t like that one.”
“Here, this one at least has a strap, but why is it so thin? Is it of any use? It looks as if it could snap with the slightest breeze!”
“Are you joking with me? Who makes fabric that breaks in the wind? Do you think this is made of paper?”
“Hmph, this is thinner than hair. It’s going to disintegrate at a single touch.”
“Is your hair this thick?” Xavier’s words triggered a laugh from Winnie. “All right now, I’ll look for one myself.”
“No!” Xavier was adamant about not letting Winnie touch the clothes. “I’ll choose for you. How did you end up buying all these?”
“I picked them randomly without looking last night.”
Just as she spoke, Wesley’s impatient voice rang out from the outside. “Vivian, what’s the point in taking a bath now? Isn’t it the same taking one there?”
Cocking an exasperated brow, Winnie flatly replied, “I’m putting on some makeup and will be down soon.”
She had hardly finished when she playfully rubbed her leg against Xavier’s. “Hurry up!”
The more Xavier thought about it, the more distraught he became. Finally, he retrieved the most conservative dress he could find and threw it over to Winnie.
The dress, due to its length, had the most fabric out of all the clothes in the bag, overflowing Winnie’s arms when she held it.
Upon extending it out, Winnie realized it was a sleeveless round-collared floral dress. With its train reaching her ankle, it was undeniably conservative.
Instead of going someplace else to change, Winnie took off her t-shirt and jeans right in front of Xavier, who came up to help her zip the dress.
Once he was done, he grabbed Winnie’s hands.
Winnie then gave him a calm look. “Don’t worry, I know how to protect myself. You have to be careful while I’m not by your side too. Anyway, let go of me now. It’s time for me to leave.”
“Okay, but put this on.” No sooner had Xavier spoken than he suddenly retrieved a ring from his pocket, just like magic.
Winnie was taken aback. “This is…”
Nonetheless, she quickly realized what it was. “A listening device? One can tell straight away that it’s made of zircon. Also, it’s really small.”
