Winnie was momentarily at a loss for words.
She wanted to accuse Nate of getting in her way, but she figured she shouldn’t be that unreasonable since the man had sacrificed himself to protect her.
The assailant in front of her dropped the knife and ran away immediately after realizing that they had stabbed the wrong person.
At that moment, Winnie recognized that the person was a woman, and she was most probably Nate’s fan.
She could tolerate these fanatical fans throwing things at her, but they had gone too far this time by attempting to stab her with a knife in broad daylight. Thus, she was determined to send the culprit to prison.
Jacinta was shouting to alert everyone about the incident when that woman stabbed Nate.
Her voice was loud, and she yelled several times in a row, so she quickly attracted the attention of passersby. A few good samaritans even stepped forward to help apprehend the assailant.
Winnie took off after the assailant too. Soon, the latter was subdued by Winnie and the passersby.
Her mask accidentally fell off while she was struggling, and Winnie recognized the woman at a glance.
She was a little surprised. “Shania?” She’s not a fan of Nate?
Shania spat in response and said with disgust, “You are the one I wanted to kill, b*tch! How dare you mess with me? I will make you pay a heavy price!”
Winnie found the whole situation hilarious. “You were the one who provoked me first. Anyway, you should save these words for the police. I don’t want to hear them.”
With that, Winnie picked up Shania’s hat, crumpled it into a ball, and stuffed it into Shania’s mouth.
Since she was holding Shania down and couldn’t call the police, she asked the passersby for help.
After learning that someone had called the police, she shoved Shania aside.
After a while, Jacinta walked over supporting Nate.
Winnie glanced at the blood dripping beside Nate’s feet and couldn’t help frowning. “Aren’t you going to the hospital?”
“Yes. I’ve already called an ambulance. It will be here soon.” After explaining, Nate asked, “Are you okay? Are you injured?”
“I’m fine.” Winnie swallowed the words that were at the tip of her tongue for she felt that now was not the time to say them. “Just take care of yourself. Don’t do anything reckless in the future.”
“All right,” Nate responded softly. “I panicked just now. Now that I think about it, you probably would’ve caught her if I didn’t show up just now. I’m sorry. Looks like I’ve done something wrong out of goodwill.”
Winnie hummed a response. “Find someplace to sit down and rest since you’re injured. Don’t stand here.”
The security guards in the shopping mall rushed over three minutes later, while the police car and ambulance arrived simultaneously five minutes later.
Winnie and Jacinta went directly to the police station because they were not injured, while Nate was taken away by the ambulance.
