Winnie was instantaneously reminded of Lisanne.
Noticing the changes in her facial expression, David immediately asked, “Who is Marsh? Do you know this person?”
“Yes.” Winnie furrowed her brows. “She’s my good friend, and her name is Lisanne Marsh. Harold must’ve chosen her because he realized the other people around me couldn’t be easily targeted. Still, Lisanne is innocent. She doesn’t know anything and has never interacted with Harold.”
“Where is she right now?” David grew anxious as well. “Hurry up and give her a call to confirm her current location and status!”
Winnie grunted in response before hurriedly taking out her phone and dialing Lisanne’s number.
However, the line kept ringing, but no one picked up the call.
After attempting twice, she suddenly recalled that Lisanne might’ve been taken away by James and Greta.
At that time, Lisanne had informed Winnie that she might be uncontactable for the upcoming two days, and it would be normal for her to be temporarily unreachable.
Winnie had also responded by saying that she could understand Lisanne’s circumstances.
Still, after seeing that doll, Winnie did not think so anymore.
“This is not working.” She kept her phone in slight frustration. “Lisanne isn’t answering my calls, and I don’t know where she is. But I do know someone who is informed of her whereabouts.” Staring at David, she said, “However, I may require your assistance, Captain Gibson.”
“Tell me.” David was willing to provide her with any help to ensure a citizen’s safety.
Then, Winnie recounted the incident of her seeing Lisanne, James, and Greta conversing at the science academy’s entrance the other day.
Nonetheless, she didn’t divulge too much information. “I’m not sure about the specifics. I can only guess that Officer Clark may have taken Lisanne away to seek her help. If that’s the case, we’ll need to trouble you to talk to him.”
James was in the Special Task Force, which was a different department from David’s Criminal Investigation Force.
Hence, David wasn’t sure about James’ and Greta’s operation. Nevertheless, since that matter now involved Lisanne’s safety, David had to visit the Special Task Force no matter what that day.
“Okay. Leave that matter to me. In the meantime, you can try contacting your friend’s family members to see if you can find out any information.”
With that, he turned to give orders to his subordinates before dialing Special Task Force’s office number.
As he was one of the staff members, his call could be directly connected to James’ line.
He gave James an account of the important events of that day’s case and proceeded to inquire about Lisanne’s whereabouts.
Unfortunately, David didn’t receive a conclusive answer from James because their conversation over the phone didn’t last long.
