Perhaps because my words were too frightening, Jolene didn’t stay long and left with Carson’s family. Only Isabella and Carson stayed in the infirmary with me.
Isabella couldn’t say anything in front of Carson, but she would just reassure and cheer me up.

“Why do I have to feel guilty?” I asked hoarsely.

“In truth no. But I was curious when I heard you had a miscarriage, so I called.”
“If that’s the case, can I hang up now?”
