Sir madame has run away again (Lily and Carson) novel Chapter 248

Chapter 248
After all, in a society where men’s extramarital affairs were seen as normal, any evidence of an affair wouldn’t tarnish your reputation.
On the other hand, Carson spending six million to settle the blackmail over his case could only be fueled by one thing – his desire for Daddy’s company. Compared to the prospect of inheriting Dad’s company, that six million in extortion was nothing.
This idiot is truly ambitious and calculating!
The next morning I went to visit Dad in the hospital as usual and found him talking to Mom about being discharged. He thought his health was stable and insisted on being discharged, but his mother refused, saying he needed to recover in hospital. Upon seeing me, she immediately turned to me for support. “Lily, please talk some sense into your father and make him stay here a few more days.”
“Dad, just listen to mommy and stay here for a few more days.”
“I’m good now. Let me rest at home. It is uncomfortable to stay in the hospital.” He was adamant about being discharged.
“I’ll check with the doctor and get his opinion. If he agrees, we will reconsider.” So I went to see Dad’s attending physician, who told me that Dad’s condition had stabilized and it was all right to release him to recover at home.
Reassured after the conversation with the doctor, I went back to the room and convinced Dad to stay one more day at the hospital. Since tomorrow was Saturday, I would be free to pick him up from the hospital. Hearing this, he finally agreed to the deal.
After briefly visiting the hospital, I went to work at Walker International. This time, the front desk staff didn’t even bother calling the President’s office and excitedly escorted me to the elevator.
The secretary in the president’s office treated me well and didn’t even inform Eric before taking me to his office. Today, he was wearing a navy and white striped shirt and was already sitting in his chair. He was a natural model; any outfit would look good on him. When he saw me coming in, he lifted his wrist to check his watch. “You are half an hour late!”
I never thought he would keep an eye on the weather. Since I didn’t need to report to my office, I took my time. I had no choice but to apologize: “I’m sorry. I went to the hospital this morning and was attended to”.
“If you’re late, you’re late. Don’t find an excuse.” He looked stern. “This is an attitude problem. If you really have something going on, you could have called me sooner instead of finding an excuse at the last minute.”
“Understood. I won’t do that next time!” I responded deferentially and he gestured for me to sit down. “Is your father’s health okay?”
“Yes. He will be discharged tomorrow.”
“OK. You’ll spend the day here working out the draft of the project. If you have any problems, please raise them for me.” He pointed to a space in front of him.
“Here?” I swallowed in shock and finally noticed the extra chair in the room.
“Why? You do not want?” He stared at me with glittering eyes.
“No problem. It’s not a problem.” Feeling pressured, I sat across from him and fired up my laptop. His hand was close to mine. I noticed that his fingers were very thin and he kept his nails neatly trimmed. I suddenly noticed that he was wearing cufflinks today; they were sapphires surrounded by diamonds, looking intricate and chic. Out of nowhere, I blurted out, “President Walker, where did you get those cufflinks?”
“You like them?” he asked me.
“Yes. They are adorable.”

“Are you planning to buy them for your husband?” he asked jokingly.
“No. I’m just asking.”
“I designed this for myself.”
“President Walker, you are truly talented. I never knew you would design your accessories.”
And
“It’s just a hobby; nothing to do with talent.” Then all of a sudden he punched me for no reason: “The ring on your finger is super ugly. As a designer, don’t you cringe every day when you put it on?”
