Sir madame has run away again (Lily and Carson) novel Chapter 408

Chapter 408
‘Familiarity breeds affection?’ Dylan repeated, shooting me a meaningful smile. ‘We grew up together, so how much affection do we grow for each other if that saying is true?’
Rolling my eyes, I didn’t expect him to use my own words against me and say, ‘We care for each other. How insensitive of you to imply otherwise, when I’ve always considered him my big brother.
‘Older brother?’ He laughed bitterly. ‘But I don’t want you to be my sister!’
What did he mean by not wanting me as a sister? Did he think I wasn’t good enough? Displeased, I asked, ‘So what kind of people do you like? Tell me and I’ll help you look around. I’m sure I’ll find someone suitable for you.’
‘You don’t know who the person I like is?’ Suddenly, he took a step closer to me. ‘You have no heart, Lilian Hawkins. You don’t even know who I like, even though we’ve been together for so many years. he said through clenched teeth as he fixed his eyes on me.
‘It is funny. Why should she know something like that? a voice intervened coldly.
Lifting our heads together, Dylan and I saw that Eric had appeared beside us without either of us noticing.

Our conversation stopped with his appearance, and Dylan gave him a slight smile. “So you’re in the habit of listening to others, President Walker?”
Not a person to be trifled with, Eric immediately chided, ‘That’s not a nice way’ to put it, President Newman. You were talking in a public place with Lilian, and I came to listen. How can this be considered espionage?
first hearing that he did not address me as Ms. Hawkins as he used to strangely do, he was now calling me by my name. As this was the first time since I’d known him that he’d done this, my eyes involuntarily flew towards him and I saw that he was also looking at me. Although I couldn’t detect any expression on his face, his eyes carried some emotions.
Dylan, on the other hand, looked displeased, and it was obvious he also noticed the change in the way he addressed me. “I consider it a slip of the tongue, but your habit of intruding into conversations is not very good, President.”
Walker.’
Then he wanted to ask what Eric meant by interrupting our conversation like a stranger when we weren’t anywhere near him. To that, Eric just smiled politely and clarified, ‘I just don’t intrude on any conversation. I just wanted to help Lilian when I saw that she was cornered by you.’
“I didn’t know you were so close to Lily, President Walker. So now he meant that Eric was in no position to meddle in the private matters between us.
‘There are many more things you don’t know, isn’t there, Lily?’ Eric said and shot Dylan a teasing look.
The teasing way he called me ‘Lily’ made Dylan look up at him, and he met his gaze without looking away. Both of them didn’t look angry on the surface, but a storm was brewing in their eyes.
‘So that’s where you are! I’ve looked everywhere,’ said a sweet voice, and I turned to see Jessica leaving with a
smile.
Thankfully, her appearance eased the tension between the two. Withdrawing her gaze, Dylan shifted his eyes to hers and smiled softly. “What brought you here?”
