Chapter 470
“I thought you would need to return the car before we returned to our country from Frankfurt…” If my memory serves me correctly, he rented the car when we were in Frankfurt.
“Why would I need to do that? The car is mine, so I don’t owe anyone”, he said with great indignation.
“So where are we going?”
“To Hamburg.”
“Why are we going there?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“We are going on a business trip. I have things to do.” The answer he gave was so blunt and brutal that it was as if the kindness he’d shown her last night didn’t belong to him. I didn’t know what came over him, but it might have something to do with the phone calls he just got, so I decided to shut up.
Lüneburg Heath and Hamburg were only forty kilometers apart, so we managed to reach Hamburg in half an hour. Instead of taking me to the hotel, Eric took us to a house. As soon as our car stopped, a middle-aged Asian woman came out of the house while greeting Eric in German. After she greeted me, Eric calmly said, “She doesn’t understand German, so you’ll have to speak in English.”
“Hello. My name is Sharon Thompson! You can call me Sharon!”
“Hi, I’m Lilian Hawkins.”
“Sharon, I’m leaving her in your care. I have things to do at the company. You can call me if you need me,” said Eric as he collected our bags. So he drove away after starting the engine. I never knew he had a company in Hamburg. After saying goodbye to him, Sharon led me into the house while she took the bags with her.
The house is built in the classic German style with luxurious interior decoration. After showing me around the house, Sharon led me to the second floor before opening the door to the second room on our left. “Miss Hawkins, this is her room. Please check if you need anything else. Just let me know if you need anything.”
“I think it’s fine as it is.” I entered the room before leaving my luggage on the floor. Seeing that I didn’t make any requests, Sharon left Eric’s luggage in the first room on the right side of the hall.
In moments, she was back. “Would you like something to eat? Shall I cook something for you?”
“I’m not hungry. Just ate.”
“All good. I’ll get some fruit then,” Sharon said happily.
“Everything is fine. I need to get some sleep.”
“Okay, I won’t bother you anymore then. You can pick me up

I woke up with the sunset. After washing up, I headed downstairs, only to see Sharon coming up from below with a smile blooming on her face as soon as she saw me. “I was on my way to pick you up for dinner.”
The dining room was empty, but the cutlery was set. Sharon looked at me with a warm smile, “I don’t know what you’d like for dinner, so I made grilled fish in the popular local style. I hope you enjoy.”
Then she turned to go to the kitchen before returning with a crispy grilled fish served with roast potatoes and a sauce I didn’t know the name of. As she placed everything on the table, she looked over, still smiling. “Miss Hawkins, would you like red wine or white wine? By the way, grilled fish goes best
