Valery chuckled when she saw Gerald’s reaction and walked into his room, sitting on the bed. She looked up at him and said, “We’re getting married.”

Valery turned to face Gerald. “I am scared. I don’t know how long we’ll be alive or if we’ll have children, and even if we do, I worry we won’t be around to see them grow up.
