When Alex heard Yannic begging for mercy, he was confused. What on earth is she talking about? I was merely contemplating how to reward her! 

“Is this how you treat a good employee, Mr. Sewell? No wonder your company is such a mess!” Alex commented in displeasure. 

“Uh…” Charles was promptly taken aback. A while passed before realization dawned upon him that he had misconstrued the man’s intentions. Ah, it looks like he wants to reward this employee named Yannie! 

“My apologies, Mr. Jefferson. Yannie, you did a great job. Since the position of manager is vacant, you can 

take over!” 

Hearing that. Yannie wiped the tears on her face and gaped at her employer in shock, not quite believing her ears. 

Not only did he spare me from being blacklisted, but he even promoted me to the position of manager? This feels like a dream! It’vall thanks to this young man before me here that I’ve got this opportunity now. Otherwise, I would never be able to become a manager when I’m a nobody, merely someone from a rural area without any background! 

“But.. I have no experience, Mr. Sewell. I’m afraid that I won’t be able to do the job well.” While she was happy, she still felt that she lacked the required capability. 

“Don’t worry about that! Mr. Sewell will have someone teach you the ropes. I believe that you can do a great job,” Alex interjected with a smile. 

When he interacted with her earlier, he glimpsed the ambition in her eyes despite her meek and gentle appearance. Hence, he wanted to lend her a hand. 

As I’ve helped her this much, she’ll have to depend on herself to succeed in the future. 

At the side, Charles swiftly seconded, “Yes, yes! Mr. Jefferson is right! Don’t worry, Yannie. I’ll have someone come over and train you.” 

He patted Yannie on the shoulder with a chuckle. Then, he turned to Alex and asked, “Are all things to your satisfaction, Mr. Jefferson? Is there anything else you need from me?” 

Getting to his feet from the couch, Alex handed the purchase agreement to Jessica before murmuring. “There’s nothing else since I’ve already bought a house. I’ve got something to do, so I’ll treat you to a meal when I’m free, Mr. Sewell 

“How would I dare have you treat me to a meal, Mr. Jefferson? I’ll treat you to a meal instead when you’re free!” Charles countered in horror. 

Without responding to that, Alex left the sales gallery with Jessica. Charles saw the man to the door fearfully and respectfully. 

When he saw no signs of Alex’s car, he quickly offered, “Why don’t I have my driver send you back. Mr. Jefferson? 

Alex nodded in agreement as it was indeed difficult to get a taxi at that hour. Besides, he had no reason to decline when Charles was being so considerate. 

Charles watched as the car slowly disappeared from his line of sight before breathing a long sigh of relief. Phew! At long last, he has left! 

Yannie grew even more puzzled to see her employer’s reaction. She could not fathom why Charles would be so fearful of Alex when Charles enjoyed a high status. 

Ultimately, her curiosity got the better of her, Mustering her courage, she ventured, “Who was the man earlier, Mr. Sewell?” 

Sighing. Charles divulged mildly, “He’s someone you’ll never have any chance of approaching. Unless you’ve reached a certain height one day, you’ll then understand how terrifying he is.”
