Chapter 1021 He Is Still A Child 

“Children should do more household chores. If you’re too pampered, you’ll just be useless when you grow up. You are responsible for the household chores today!” Kate immediately assigned tasks to Stanley upon returning home. 

Stanley, who had just gotten out of the car, looked at Kate fearfully. Not daring to go against her orders, he nodded obediently. 

Winona felt relieved when she saw Stanley arriving home safely. Thank goodness Mrs. Jefferson didn’t do anything ruthless to the obedient child. 

Stanley didn’t dare to rest after arriving back home. He looked at the spotless villa and didn’t know what to do. 

Kate realized the issue too. She wanted Stanley to do household chores, but there were hardly any chores to be done at home. 

She turned on the television. While watching it, she munched on some nuts and deliberately kicked the trash can aside. 

“What are you waiting for? Can’t you see it’s dirty here? Hurry up and grab a broom to clean it,” Kate commanded as she glanced at Stanley, who was still standing at the door. 

Stanley walked over timidly and said nothing, sweeping the nuts off the floor with a broom obediently. 

Unaware of what happened. Winona hurriedly approached them and took the broom from Stanley’s hand. “How can you be allowed to do household chores, Stanley? It has been two days since the start of the holidays. Have you finished your homework? Go do your homework. I can take care of these chores.” 

Stanley remained standing at the same spot with his head lowered because he didn’t dare to head back to his room. He didn’t have too much homework except for some craft assignments from the teacher. 

“Ms. Sutton, I…” Stanley fidgeted with his fingers. Even when tears started to fall down his cheeks, he didn’t dare to tell Kate that he wanted to go back to his room to finish his craft assignments. 

Kate shot Winona a glare as she snatched the broom from her hand and threw it on the ground. “Did I ask you to do these things? Go and take care of Emma. From now onward, Stanley will be in charge of all the household chores. You are not allowed to help him. If I find out, I’ll make sure you regret it!” 

Glancing at Stanley worriedly, Winona mustered all her courage and said, “Ms. Sutton, he’s still a child! How can he do all these chores? I may be old, but I’m perfectly capable of taking care of the children and doing chores at the same time. Mr. Jefferson cares for Stanley so much. If he sees him doing household chores at such a young age, he will feel sorry for him.”” 

Although Winona had only been working for two days, she had developed a general understanding of the family. She knew that Kate was abusing Stanley because she was his stepmother. 

The reason she said those words were to remind Kate to watch her behavior and treat Stanley better out of consideration for Alex. 

However, she had barely finished speaking when a heavy slap landed on her cheek. 

“You are just a servant. Who gives you the right to meddle in so many matters? Were you trying to threaten me just now? I’ll make your family suffer if you dare breathe a word to Alex.” Kate looked daggers at Winona as she issued a threat. 

How dare she threaten me like this? She’s just a caretaker I hire! Kate had never treated people of lower status 

with kindness. 

Upon hearing Kate’s threat to her family, Winona dared not utter another word. She was still fearful of wealthy individuals like Kate, and it wasn’t worth sacrificing her own family for other people. 

After venting her anger, Kate went back to her room to take a nap. However, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. Before she knew it, she was already standing at the entrance of the study. 

Kate paused for a moment, contemplating whether she should open the door and take a peek inside. She might discover some confidential information about Four Seas Corporation. 

She only had Emmalyn. If she could obtain some leverage on Alex, she would get a firm hold on him.
