Chapter 1042 Catwoman
“The first item up for auction will be an original masterpiece from Rembrandt, a scenic view of waterfalls at Shadowridge Crest. This painting has been authenticated by the renowned appraisal master, Mr. Arlo Overby. The starting bid for this masterpiece is set at two billion!“
Rembrandt’s artwork was unveiled in all its glory on the display table as Grace’s voice reverberated through the grand hall. It was positioned at an optimal angle whereby everyone could indulge in its exquisite beauty,
Rembrandt’s artworks had always commanded astronomical prices, reaching into the billions. Yet, this particular painting stood in a class of its own. Its depiction of the scenic view was so masterfully executed that it immersed viewers in the very heart of the landscape. The painting’s ability to transport and captivate justified the audacious starting bid of two billion.
“I’ll pay two billion one hundred million!” At that moment, a middle-aged man raised his bidding card and made his offer.
The attendees who had received invitation cards were individuals with a net worth surpassing billions. As the auction progressed, collectors with a longing for Rembrandt’s paintings started to participate in the bidding war.
Alex, however, remained disinterested in the artwork itself. His sole purpose for attending the auction was the pursuit of the Blood Ganoderma. Yet, if any other rare treasures or valuable resources caught his eye. he wouldn’t hesitate to join the bidding.
Alex glanced at Garett out of the corner of his eye and noticed the sparkle in Garett’s eyes as he focused on Rembrandt’s painting being displayed on the stage.
“Mr. Greaves, do you have a fondness for Rembrandt’s masterpieces?”
Garett nodded with enthusiasm, affirming his appreciation. “In my leisure time, I enjoy collecting famous paintings, and Rembrandt’s works hold a special place in my heart. This particular painting is the main reason for my presence at today’s auction,”
As the bidding escalated to three point five billion, the pace of the bidding slowed down, signaling the approach of the final price.
Garett, patiently waiting for this opportune moment, confidently raised his bidding card and declared. “I’ll pay three point eight billion!”
“Three point nine billion!” Another man countered.
“Four billion!” Garett raised his bidding card, his amicable smile replaced by a serious and determined expression.
The Rembrandt masterpiece was valued at three point six billion, making a bid of four billion appear extravagant.
The other bidder fell into a momentary silence, weighing the worthiness of such a substantial sum for the painting.
As the final price was declared, Garett emerged as the victorious bidder, successfully securing the painting
for four billion.
“I finally have this painting in my possession. It’s a relief that my efforts to attend this action weren’t in vain.” Garett expressed with a sigh of relief
Intrigued, Alex inquired, “Oh, aren’t you originally from Lumenopolis”
