Chapter 1163 Heading To Bromwich
When Kate was suddenly faced with that question, her heart raced. Could there be surveillance cameras in the study, and I’ve been caught on camera?
“What book are you talking about? Your study is usually locked. Hence, even if I wanted to come in and look at your books, I couldn’t! Our daughter’s illness hasn’t been cured yet. Are you searching for medical treatments?” Fearful that she might expose herself, Kate deliberately steered the conversation toward Emmalyn.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be visiting the Venenum Clan for a while. Take good care of our daughter. If anything unexpected happens, go find my father,” said Alex as he closed the door to his study.
His top priority was to visit the Venenum Clan. After all, their research on poisonous insects was extremely thorough. There was a chance someone there could cure the poison in Emmalyn’s body.
The toxins in Emmalyn’s body were still spreading, so Alex couldn’t afford to waste even a second. He asked Jack to prepare a private jet to head to the Venenum Clan.
After sitting on a plane for several hours and then enduring a long car ride, Alex finally arrived at the rather famous Venenum Clan.
What intrigued him was that everyone there wore masks, and very few people went out. After walking around for half a day, he only saw five or six people. Just as he was about to approach them and ask some questions, they went straight into their houses and closed the doors.
Just as he was feeling somewhat disheartened, a middle-aged man wearing a mask passed by in front of him. Fearing that the man might get away, he quickly approached him and grabbed his shoulder.
Alex moved quickly, and the man didn’t even have a chance to run before he was caught. That startled the middle-aged man quite a bit.
“Excuse me, I have a few questions I’d like to ask you,” Alex said apologetically.
The middle-aged man originally wanted to flee, but seeing Alex being so polite, he decided not to run. Instead, he maintained a certain distance from Alex and took out a small bottle from his pocket, spraying its contents toward Alex.
Wrinkling his nose, Alex caught a whiff of the pungent alcohol scent lingering in the air.
After spraying more than a dozen times, the middle-aged man finally put the small bottle back into his pocket. “You must be from out of town, right? I can’t believe you have the guts to walk around without at mask. You’re really risking your life!”
“What’s going on here? Why is everyone staying indoors and wearing masks?” Alex asked in surprise.
Speaking of that issue, the middle-aged man sighed. “Recently, the flu has been very severe in this village, and quite a few people have died. To avoid getting infected, everyone is staying indoors. Unless there’s something particularly important, people generally stay at home.”
As he spoke, the middle-aged man took a mask out of his pocket and handed it to Alex. “For your own safety, please put on this mask first! Otherwise, I won’t dare to continue talking to you.”
As Alex was a Grandmaster, his immune system was far stronger than that of ordinary people. Thus, the flu wouldn’t do anything to him.
Since I’ve come to this place, I may as well follow the rules here. Without any hesitation, Alex accepted the mask and
put it on.
