Chapter 226 This Is My Boyfriend 

The two men exchanged glances in surprise. 

Who would’ve thought that this family is so powerful? 

“Ah, Mr. Wells is dropping by? Then we should leave him a seat,” replied Zane, who felt much better after hearing it. He smiled brightly, but he also started to see things differently. Mr. Wells is dropping by to wish Ronald’s mom a happy birthday. This is something I should look into and consider when making future decisions. 

Presley took a seat after Zane sat down. That was followed by Jessica’s uncle, Ronald, and other respectable individuals in the village. 

Everyone was courteous, but they didn’t disrupt the traditional seating orders. 

“Jessica, Alex, you two should sit here,” instructed Victoria when she saw Jessica leading Alex to the other table. Victoria was pointing at the two seats at the other end of the main table. 

“Grandma, we’ll just sit there,” replied Jessica. She didn’t want to go against the traditions. 

Victoria chuckled and said, “Ah, my granddaughter, just listen to grandma, will you?” 

“Let’s just sit at the main table with your grandma,” agreed Alex. He figured that Victoria must have her reasons for asking them to sit over there, so he didn’t reject her offer. 

“Okay, then,” replied Jessica, who had no choice but to sit there since Alex had already agreed to it. 

“Mom, it’s fine for Alex to join the main table. But Jessica should sit at the other table,” suggested Kitty as she frowned. 

The tradition dictated that younger women were not allowed to sit at the main table when important guests were around. That was especially true when the important guests in question were someone as powerful as Zane. 

“We’re in the modern age. Let’s not talk about all this anymore. Come sit with us,” said Zane with a smile. 

Kitty didn’t raise any objection after hearing what Zane said, 

Alex then sat beside Zachariah while Jessica sat beside Alex. 

Zane saw their seating arrangement and thought that they were deliberately putting his son at a disadvantage. 

“Ronald, I don’t recognize this guy. Introduce him to us, will you?” requested Zane. Ronald was Zane’s right–hand man, so Zane still felt like he was the boss even as he sat there. 

That was somewhat normal since he was the most powerful figure over there. 

“That is probably Jessica’s friend?” replied Ronald, who wasn’t sure what was happening either. 

“Ah, a friend from the city? He traveled all the way over, so he’s an honorable guest. How can we let Zachariah sit in a more prestigious seat? Zachariah, switch seats with the guy,” instructed Zane with a smile. 

Zane wanted Alex to sit closer to the head of the table, and it might seem like he was saying that the guy Was a more important guest compared to his son. However, it was obvious that Zane was trying to give his

son more opportunities to get closer to Jessica. Zane had already sensed that Victoria seemed to have something strange planned. 

“Mr. Hayes, that won’t be necessary. It works out well for the new couple to sit together,” informed Victoria directly. 

They would have to face Zane and his family sooner or later anyway, so Victoria thought that she might as well rip the band–aid off. It’d just be even more embarrassing if Zane had publicly asked to let the two kids be engaged later on. That would make things truly irreversible with the Hayes family.

Aside from Alex, Jessica, and Zachariah, everyone at the table looked flabbergasted as soon as Victoria said those words.
