Chapter 230 An Awkward Scene 

“Jessica, we prepared a room for the two of you, why don’t you both rest up earlier?” her aunt suggested, ushering them into a room. 

“Is there another empty room I can sleep in?” Alex inquired. 

“I am afraid not. Anyway, you don’t have to be embarrassed! Being kids these days, don’t all of you plan to live together?” Her aunt laughed with a knowing smile on her face. 

Alex flexed his hands uncomfortably while Jessica had blushed. The atmosphere had changed subtly. 

Both of them stood there as her aunt left leaving an awkward silence hanging between them. 

“How about I sleep on the couch in the living room?” When he thought about sleeping with Jessica in the same room as him, the more he felt it was a terrible idea. Even if he could keep his indecent thoughts at bay, there was no way he could have a restful sleep tonight. 

“No way. Wouldn’t they know the truth then? Don’t worry, you can sleep on the bed, I’ll sleep on the floor. Don’t think for a second that I would sleep with you in that tiny bed,” Jessica said as she blushed and bit her lips. 

“That goes without saying. How about I sleep on the floor, I have pretty thick skin anyway,” he suggested. Not sleeping in the same bed was definitely for the best. With Jessica’s delectable body, Alex was not sure if he could control his evil thoughts and made a move on her at night. 

“No way. You came so far to help me out how could I let you sleep on the floor?” Jessica’s eyes were shining with gratitude. 

“There’s no need to feel sorry. You are my secretary after all,” Alex smiled reassuringly. 

“Alright then,” she relented. “Go take a shower then.” She nudged him gently. 

Hearing her utter the words “go take a shower then” felt somewhat unusual to Alex. 

Simultaneously, he could feel his heart thumping rapidly, his blood rushing through his veins at an abnormal rate. 

It would be a crime to not mention just how gorgeous Jessica was. Her body, her looks, her manner, everything was the complete package. She didn’t possess the mature elegance of Heather, but had a youthful beauty of her own, naturally attracting men like honey to bees. 

Her innocence, when juxtaposed with a born seductress like Kate, was rather compelling. On top of that, she had a natural poise reminiscent of scholars. 

Alex entered the bathroom and washed up quickly. When he was done, he saw Jessica kneeling on the floor, busily spreading the bedding and blankets out for him. 

Jessica was wearing a plain T–shirt. Despite not being overly endowed, her chest was displayed beneath the 

open collar in this position. 

Alex was greeted with such a scene the moment he pushed open the door. All of a sudden, his heart rate speeded up. 

“You… shouldn’t look,” Jessica stuttered, aware that Alex had opened the bathroom door.
