Nevertheless, they were reluctant to beg Alex for any. 

“Alex, you’re finished! You have killed an alligator, the nation’s second most protected species, you will go to prison for that or I will change my name,” Kurt suddenly sneered. 

Stunned, everyone suddenly had the urge to chuck aside the alligator meat. 

Alligator was indeed one of the nation’s protected species. Thus, eating grilled alligator meat was also a crime. 

“Idiot,” Alex quipped without looking back. 

“F***, how dare you call me an idiot. You’re a dead man. I’m going to get the police to arrest you now.” Infuriated, Kurt took out his phone to call the police. 

Carlene and the others couldn’t help but frown. Instinctively, they threw the last piece of alligator meat onto the grassy ground. 

They were worried about being implicated when the police arrived. 

“Kurt, there’s no use making a police report,” Zachariah remarked. 

“Hmm? What do you mean?” Kurt frowned as he turned towards Zachariah. 

“This man has good connections. Gavin Wells from the provincial council is on good terms with him. Both of them are like brothers,” Zachariah explained. 

Frowning, Kurt reconsidered his options. If Alex had such a connection, calling the police would just make a fool out of himself. He might even end up being humiliated. 

However, it made him feel exasperated if he didn’t call them. 

“Is this for real?” Kurt asked. 

“Yes. My father and I were there. We were even sharing the same table,” Zachariah replied with a nod. 

“Damn it. I didn’t expect him to have such strong connections. I really have underestimated him.” Gritting his teeth, Kurt’s eyes were filled with anger. 

The matter about the alligator meat wasn’t the real reason for his fury, 

The crux of the issue was watching how Carlene and Alex chatting happily together. 

He had not only abandoned Carlene and fled by himself earlier but also led the alligator towards her and the others. So, no matter how thick skin he was, he would never ever dare talk to Carlene again.
