Lucas was having the time of his life working as the manager in that department, so he would rather not be repositioned as deputy director in another one. Not only is it tiring to work in the project management department, but I’m also required to travel for business. No, thank you. 

“I have somebody else in mind to position in the Purchasing Department for the moment. But don’t worry. Just work on improving your skills, and you’ll be promoted very soon.” 

“Fine.” Lucas had no choice but to nod in agreement. 

Seeing that her grandson finally agreed, Demi continued, “I’ve decided to appoint Harper as the manager of the Purchasing Department. Is that okay with you, Harper?” 

“Yes, Granny. I’m okay with it,” replied Harper with a big smile since she, too, was well aware of the benefits of the department. 

Although Harper was married into the Hale family, she did not work with them. That was why Demi decided to have the young woman at Jennings Corporation. 

“As for the position of general manager, I’m appointing that to Jacob. Brian and I will assume the role of chairmen for the moment. We will no longer interfere with corporate operations so that you young people have free rein. It’s time you show us exactly what you’re capable of.” 

Heather’s and Lucas’ faces hardened as soon as Demi finished the sentence. 

It was especially infuriating for Heather, who could not understand why the man with no contribution to the corporation at all got to be general manager. 

On the other hand, she had sacrificed so much to pull the corporation back from the brink of bankruptcy only to be appointed as deputy general manager. The woman even lost her ten percent of shares. 

It was then that Heather remembered how Alex had warned her about Demi. She regretted not listening to the man, who was just trying to help her see how her grandmother was using her. 

Instead, she thought Alex was sowing discord between Demi and her. I never should’ve doubted Alex. I was wrong. I was so wrong! Granny hasn’t changed a bit; she’s still putting Uncle Brian and his side of the family first. 

Heather was too distracted by her own thoughts to pay attention to the rest of the announcement, and she remained that way even after reaching home. 

“Why the long face, Heather?” inquired Carmen curiously. 

‘You’ll never believe what Granny just did to me. Not only did she take away the shares that the chairmant gave me, but she also repositioned me as deputy general manager. Heck, she even repositioned the purchasing manager I assigned.” 

“What? How could she do that? Jennings Corporation would never be doing as well as it is today if it weren’t for you. What the heck is that old hag thinking?” exclaimed Carmen angrily. 

‘I know. Apparently, Granny didn’t seem to appreciate what Heather has done as much as we thought she would. She appointed Jacob, that useless piece of trash, as general manager instead of Heather. Can you believe that?” complained Lucas, who was just as upset.
