Chapter 653 The Helpless Ones
After Alex sorted everything out, he returned home. He missed his son, as he had not met his son for more than two days.
Heather’s family wasn’t influenced when the Jenningses had filed for bankruptcy because Heather had tendered her resignation a long time ago. It was the best out of the worst possible outcomes.
Alex had thought of dropping by the kindergarten to pick Stanley up, but it was a futile attempt.
By the time he arrived home, it was already six o’clock in the evening. As soon as he stepped into the living room, he ran into his brother-in-law and mother-in-law.
Lucas had his eyes glued to his phone since he was in the middle of a game. Meanwhile, Carmen was seated next to her son on the couch, watching the television.
When Alex passed by the duo, he thought of ignoring them and marched in the direction of Stanley’s
room.
It was then that Carmen slammed the coffee table with all her might and bellowed, “What are you doing here? Haven’t you been trying to hit on someone else because our family is no longer in our prime?”
Alex had no intention to engage himself in another conflict. He just couldn’t figure out the reason they wouldn’t stop picking on him.
Not wanting to talk to them, Alex was about to return to his son’s room. Just then, Heather walked out of the kitchen and said. “Alex, I think we need to talk.”
He turned around and looked at Heather. Then he said coldly, “What is it? Why don’t you tell me now? I’ll take Stanley away with me in a short while.”
Carmen was upset by Alex’s attitude. She sprang up from her seat and rushed to her daughter’s side, reprimanding her son-in-law, “Is this the way you’re supposed to talk to my daughter?”
She seemed to have forgotten Alex wasn’t an easy target when Alex was being courteous to them. “Also, where do you think you’re taking Stanley with you? You’re not allowed to take him away from us!” Alex turned around and remarked, “Stanley’s my son! I can take him wherever I want as his father!”
“Stop getting full of yourself! Shall we not forget my daughter is his mother as well? We’re talking about my grandson!”
“Well, I’m afraid that won’t be for long.”
Halfway through the conversation, Heather asked, “Are you trying to take him away and divorce me because of that woman?”
Seconds after Heather finished her sentence, Carmen went berserk because she couldn’t believe the man she deemed a wimp had gotten himself into an affair with someone else.
“How dare you cheat on Heather when you’re just a live-in son-in-law? I’m going to kill you for betraying my daughter!” Carmen started throwing punches at Alex.
Alex was irked and thought he would never return if it weren’t because of his son. After all, the fenningtes were nothing but a bunch of fools.
He pushed his mother-in-law aside and repeated himself in a callous tone, “Heather, I’ve made myself clear for once, and I’m going to repeat myself for one last time. I’ve never cheated on you. If you still think that’s not the case, we can always file for divorce whenever you’re ready.”
