Chapter 994 Giving You A House
Alex brought Jessica to the hospital to get a thorough examination. Fortunately, she wasn’t severely injured and only sustained superficial wounds. After getting her wounds dressed, she was allowed to leave the hospital.
“I’m sorry you were dragged into the mess and got hurt as a result,” Alex said apologetically.
Jessica shook her head gently. “I’m fine. I was just a little shaken, that’s all. I’m no longer afraid when you showed up to save me. I know you’ll protect me from harm.”
Alex was taken aback by Carmen’s ambiguous words, and he was unsure of how to respond.
After clearing his throat, Alex spoke up. “You were kidnapped by Aiden because of me, and you even got injured. I consider it a work-related incident. If there’s anything you need or want, just let me know, and I’ll do my best to fulfill your request.”
An awkward expression crossed Jessica’s face. Her reaction reminded Alex that he had said those very words before but both parties parted ways on a sour note.
In an attempt to break the awkward silence, Alex swiftly continued, “I know you’re currently living with your family, and while it’s nice to be with them, a young woman like yourself needs a place of your own. So, let me buy you a house!”
Jessica was taken aback by his offer, but she soon regained her composure and nodded in agreement. Alex was right. Living with her family was great, but she needed a space of her own. Besides, it was a kind gesture from Alex, and she didn’t want to turn down his offer.
After Alex’s car got destroyed, he didn’t have time to buy a new one. Thus, they hailed a taxi to head to the sales gallery.
Upon arriving, Alex noticed that the number of visitors looking at houses was quite limited. There were only a middle-aged man and a young lady ahead of him, so he followed them into the sales gallery.
The moment the middle-aged man entered the sales gallery with his arm around the young lady, a pretty sales assistant immediately came forward to welcome them.
The other sales assistants briefly glanced at Alex and Jessica but quickly turned their attention elsewhere. Some went back to their phones, while others focused on their own reflections in the mirror, showing little interest in introducing the available houses to Alex.
The pretty sales assistant, Kiara, guided the middle-aged man and young lady toward the villa area. She caught sight of Alex joining them and could barely hide her surprise. After sizing Alex and Jessica up, she pursed her lips and said mockingly, “If you’re here to view houses, the houses are that way. This area is for villas, and I’m not sure if you can afford anything here.”
Having worked at the sales gallery for about six years, Kiara had come across all sorts of people. She could often gauge the customers’ professions and the purpose behind their purchase with relative ease.
Observing Alex and Jessica, who appeared to be in their twenties, Kiara made assumptions based on their ordinary attire and mode of transportation, as they had arrived in a taxi carlier. She concluded that they were ordinary individuals who had graduated from university a few years ago. In her mind, such people would not have the means to afford a villa in this upscale area.
Kiara believed that even with a lifetime of hard work, it would be an unattainable dream for individuals like them to own a property here, let alone a villa.
