Chapter 996 Provocation
Kiara found herself at a loss for words as Alex’s remarks hit home. It was true that she, as a mere sales assistant, could never afford the luxurious villas she was selling.
Trying to salvage some dignity, she huffed, “What does that have to do with you? If you can’t afford it. don’t bother me. I’m just doing my job.”
Alex retorted coldly, “I thought you didn’t even know what your job was. If you knew that your job is to sell houses, then why aren’t you telling me the price when I asked?”
Kiara felt a surge of embarrassment at the way Alex spoke to her. She couldn’t believe that someone she considered beneath her would dare to look down on her.
Determined to make an enemy out of Alex, she crossed her arms and shot him a sidelong glance. “Yes, I sell houses, but so what? What will you do if I refuse to tell you the price of these villas?”
Her dismissive and arrogant attitude struck a nerve with Alex. Just as he was about to explode, a young lady dressed in a sales uniform hurried over to them.
“Sir, Miss, you’re here to view the sales unit, right? Standing around must have tired you out. Please, have a seat. I’ll get you both something to drink.” the young lady, Yannie Reederland, said with a warm smile.
“Right, Sir, Miss, what would you like?” she asked respectfully.
“Plain water will do,” Alex replied curtly.
“Give me a cup of coffee, please,” Jessica added with a friendly smile.
After ensuring that Alex and Jessica were settled, Yannie went to fetch their drinks.
As she walked past Kiara with the cup of water and coffee, Kiara surreptitiously stuck her foot out when nobody was watching.
Thud!
Before she knew it, Yannic had tripped and fallen to the ground, causing the drinks to spill. Thankfully, the hot coffee didn’t scald her.
Kiara covered her mouth and snickered at the sight of Yannie on the ground. She then quickly put on an act and offered her help. “Oh, my, Yannie. Be careful. Did you hurt yourself? Do we need to take you to the hospital?”
Yannie, with a bruised knee but otherwise unharmed, saw through Kiara’s pretense.
With a fierce glare, she pushed Kiara aside and walked away, choosing not to engage further. After all, she still had customers to attend to.
Meanwhile, the middle-aged man and his wife continued browsing the units. Frustrated and with nothing better to do, Kiara decided to retaliate against Yannie for glaring at her.
She seized Yannie’s collar and dragged the latter back, sneering, “Yannic, what’s with that dirty look just now? I was kindly helping you up, but instead of thanking me, you glared at me.”
