“What’s the point of me doing that?” Arianna scoffed and continued, “Don’t worry too much. I’m sure he’ll show up soon.”
“Really?” Joseph’s eyes lit up. After all these years, he was used to depending on this daughter of his, and he trusted her out of habit.
“Soon, the cops will come for him because of the issue with the perfume. If he’s missing, the cops will also look for him, so don’t worry too much about it. It doesn’t matter whether you report this or if you looked for him. Just wait and see.” Arianna picked up a document and glanced through it calmly.
That was the truth of the situation, but how could Joseph not worry?
“Forget it. I’ll look for him if you’re unwilling to do so!” He turned and left the office, looking much more worn than before. When he exited through the door, Nathaniel came in, and the two almost bumped into each other.
Turning back, Nathaniel asked, “What’s with him?”
“It’s nothing,” Arianna said casually. “Where have you been for the past two days? I don’t think I saw you around.”
“Ms. Tanner, I swear to God I’m working my *ss off for you!” Nathaniel grinned, showing no signs of nervousness at all. “There are a lot of things going on recently. I need to work on the lab test results, appease the media, and I even have to look for that perfumer! Just look at how busy I am that I’ve lost so much weight!”
Nathaniel pointed to himself, trying to get credit for all his hard work. Arianna just threw him a glance because she knew he was not serious about most of the things he said. Sighing, she asked, “Have you found the perfumer yet?”
