Nevertheless, he had never seen the name ‘Shawn Charrington’ in the guest list. As he thought of this, Liam’s face fell.
“I’ve never seen this name.”
Once he uttered those words, Mrs. Alfuth got caught off guard.
“How could it be…”
Right at this moment, Uncle Ian seemed to have thought of something. He said, “If you didn’t tell me earlier, I wouldn’t have noticed. Now that I think about it, it seems that I haven’t seen Shawn today.”
At this point, the truth was very clear.
Gregory said solemnly, “I’m afraid I might have to trouble Mrs. Alfuth to contact your nephew.”
Mrs. Alfuth nodded instantly.
“Sure, I’ll give him a call now.”
As she said it, she took out her phone to call Shawn.
However, when the number was dialed, there came a ringtone that signified the receiver’s phone was turned off.
The couple was dumbfounded at this moment.
“How can he turn off his phone? Don’t worry, I’ll call again.”
While reassuring them, Mrs. Alfuth made several calls to Shawn.
No matter how many times she dialed his phone number, the other party’s phone remained turned off.
Right then, even Mrs. Alfuth started feeling panicked.
Seeing Mrs. Alfuth attempting to call him again, Nell stepped forward and held her hand.
“There’s no need to call him anymore.”
She turned around to look at Liam. “He might have either escaped or got into trouble. The Arcane Jade was just stolen, and he’s gone. There’s no such coincidence in the world. Liam, you have connections with people here and you’re familiar with the area as well. Send someone to locate him.”
Liam agreed by nodding his head. Uncle Ian quickly added, “I’ll tell you several locations he usually frequents. You can send someone to those places first.
Later, the two of them walked to a corner to make a call.
At this side, Nell felt a little unbearable seeing Mrs. Alfuth looking pale and anxious.
Even though it was unclear whether the jade was taken by Shawn, but judging from the current evidence and situation, it seemed just about right that Shawn was the culprit.
Besides, he was the only one who had the key to the house, and now, he was missing.
The Alfuths had no kids, so they treated Shawn like their own biological son. One could imagine how sad they would be if they found out that Shawn was betraying them.
Nell sighed and walked forward to console Mrs. Alfuth. “Mrs. Alfuth, don’t worry too much. It might be a misunderstanding. No matter what, let’s find him first before taking the next step.”
Mrs. Alfuth nodded in agreement.
Soon enough, Liam had already arranged for people to find Shawn.
Mrs. Alfuth brought everyone to the living room to take a seat and had her maids serve them tea.
Realizing that she did not look well, Uncle Ian told her with concern, “I’m here. You can take a break from this. Go have a rest in your room. I’ll go upstairs and let you know if there’s any news.”
Mrs. Alfuth shook her head.
“With this thing going on, how can I fall asleep?”
She looked at Uncle Ian with eagerness and asked him, “What say you? Was the jade taken by Shawn?”
Not able to bring himself to bear the truth, Uncle Ian’s brows furrowed.
Eventually, he shook his head.
“I believe it wasn’t him. But we need to locate him before we can know for sure.”
It was only then that Mrs. Alfuth nodded her head.
The people that Liam had sent to locate Shawn were efficient. It did not take long before they found the right person.
The only thing was that when they brought Shawn back, he looked particularly pathetic like a drowned mouse. He no longer had that personable look that he used to have from before.
