In the past, Gideon was always afraid that Nell would distance herself from him for hiding his secret but it seemed like that would not happen.
This finally put Gideon at ease.
Even though he was at ease, explanations were still needed.
When the night was dark and quiet, he pulled Nell over and honestly explained everything that happened that year to Nell.
So, Gideon was never a simple businessman from the start.
He had studied abroad very earlier on, but everyone only knew that he studied business management, when in fact, Gideon had secretly joined a military school.
While he was there, an Old General in the military saw potential in him and picked him as an information agent.
For this, Gideon was considered as the disciple of the Old General and due to his good performance, the Old General passed on the leader’s role to Gideon after retiring.
The Old General also handed over the mission of capturing Jeff Flinders to Gideon.
Since then, the battle between Gideon and Jeff had begun.
Nell thought carefully and realized that it happened before Gideon and her met for the first time.
However, when she thought of the reason why both of them could meet, was it not because he met her in the midst of tracking Jeff Flinders?
It was because of how large this matter was and it included some elements that could not be explained by science, it must be kept confidential.
Since this matter was confidential, Gideon’s true identity had to be kept confidential as well.
Even X-organization, the organization of this matter, could not be known to others.
It was easy to notice how Gideon had to carry such a big responsibility alone in those lonely days.
No one could understand, and there was no one he could vent about this too.
No matter the problems he faced, Gideon had to carry everything alone. No matter how tired or how difficult it was, he could not say a word.
Suddenly, Nell did not resent him anymore. Instead, she felt sorry toward him.
She knew those days were difficult for Gideon to pass, but for the sake of the citizens’ safety, he had to persist.
After a long and almost ten years, he finally caught Jeff Flinders.
Since that was so difficult for Gideon, would Nell still be worthy of being his wife if she still blamed him?
Nell could not continue listening anymore as she hugged Gideon at once.
“Alright, stop talking.”
Gideon wrapped his arm around her shoulders and embraced her gently.
He let out a sigh and said deeply, “Sorry Nelly, I shouldn’t have hidden it from you.”
Nell only shook her head and replied after a second, “I don’t blame you. I know you had your reasons. However, since Jeff Flinders is now dead, does that mean you’re not in danger anymore?”
She gently lifted her head and looked at his face. Gideon smiled as he reached his hand out and tapped her nose gently.
“How can it be so easy? Danger will forever be in this world. After one danger has ended, another one will arise. How can it be gone so easily just because I said it’s gone?”
Gideon instantly stirred up the worries in Nell, and he could not bear to see her worried.
Then, he said again, “But don’t you worry. I will try my best to make sure I’m safe. Don’t forget, we still need to live till death do us apart.”
Nell laughed with a ‘pfft’ sound. She was touched and sad at the same time.
Holding onto Gideon’s hand, she said deeply, “You need to be well. If anything happens to you, I will also…”
“If anything happens to me, you need to continue living. Don’t think too much and don’t do anything silly, understand?”
Gideon’s tone suddenly became serious and stern, which made Nell’s nose turn sore and tears started to stream down her face.
