Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 161

Anyone in this circle could understand how cruel those two words were to an artiste.

Crystal had signed a ten-year contract with Anning International. Deducting the previous three years, there were still seven years left.

If she was put on hiatus for seven years, unable to take any activities, films or commercial performances, what would become of her after the contract ended in seven years?

Who would remember her then?

She would have become an old hag by then! What was the point of signing the contract?!

At this thought, Crystal suddenly wanted to die.

She quickly made a call. She had to find out just what was going on!

The call was connected swiftly. The other side seemed a little noisy and she gripped the phone before whispering urgently, “Hello, Brother Martin, are you there?”

The person on the other end said in a low voice, “Wait.”

Then, there was the sound of rustling. It took awhile for the other end to quiet down.

“What is it?”

Martin Sullivan’s temperament was relatively cold. He was usually gentle and mild, the exact opposite of Crystal’s fiery personality.

He rarely got angry but when he did, everyone would be afraid of him.

Furthermore, he had been in the circle for so many years and was quite capable, producing a number of popular artistes under his wing.

Even if their contract had expired and they were no longer working with one another, they still parted on good terms. Despite not working together, they could still remain friends.

When he had new artistes in his hand in the future, the others would still be willing to help him out if there was anything they could do.

From this point, it could be seen that Martin was not only someone who had skill but also high EQ.

Crystal had never listened to anyone but she was the most obedient to him.

If not for him, no matter how much she bounced around, she would not be able to rise to second-tier with her meager skills.

Therefore, Crystal admired and respected him greatly.

When she heard the opposite side had quietened down, she asked cautiously, “Brother Martin, I just saw the company’s statement on the Internet. What happened? Why is the company putting me on hiatus for no reason?”

Martin’s voice was clear and cold, without much emotion. “Do you think it was for no reason?”

Crystal’s heart thumped.

However, she still made a final struggle and forced a laugh. “Brother Martin, you know me. Although I’m impulsive and competitive, I don’t have the guts to do anything bad. I really can’t think of anything I did wrong that would cause the company to make such a decision.”

Martin chuckled.

The laugh was cold and mocking as if he had already known everything.

Crystal’s face turned pale.

“Crystal Roberts, I warned you before. In this circle, just fill your plate with how much it can hold but don’t keep coveting things that don’t belong to you.

“But did you listen to me? You didn’t. Not only did you disregard my words but you even came up with such a stupid and dirty method to harm others and ended up digging a hole for yourself to fall into instead. What’s the use of crying to me now?”

Crystal immediately became anxious at his words.

“Brother Martin, I didn’t…”

“You didn’t what? Didn’t tell anyone to plant drugs on Lucy Katz? Didn’t instruct reporters to film her scandal?”

Crystal’s eyes widened.

On the other side, Martin’s laugh grew colder, seemingly losing even the last trace of warmth.

“You called and tried to ask for my help but you can’t even admit your mistakes and still try to hide it from me. What? Do you think I’m as stupid as you and would agree to help you while being confused?

“Regardless of whether I want to help you or not, even if I did, there’s nothing I can do now. It was the board’s decision to seal your career, so talk to them if you have anything to say! I’m busy and don’t have time to talk to you about anything else. Goodbye.”
