The man finally looked happier.
Dinner happened under the warm and peaceful atmosphere and it ended with the last light disappearing over the horizon as if the fiery sky was extinguished by the darkness that had arrived.
They spent two more days in town and soon, it was time for them to head back.
On the last day, Nell did not arrange any plans for the two of them.
Gideon went out in the afternoon. He said he had something to deal with. Nell was not overly concerned then but when it was almost 6:00 p.m., her man had yet to return.
She started to get worried.
After all, she was in another town, another country, and most importantly, she made a few calls and none of them got through.
Nell was getting anxious and nervous. It was then her phone rang.
She quickly answered it but the one who called her was Nancy, her bodyguard.
Nancy sounded nervous at the other end of the call. “Madam, something happened. Your husband, he’s hurt.”
“What?!”
“It’s quite serious. I don’t think I can tell you what happened over the phone. Please come over now. We’re on the east side of the beach.”
Nancy then hung up the phone call.
Nell did not even get to ask for the exact address. Her face turned pale as she stared at her phone.
‘Gideon is hurt? What happened? I thought he had something to take care of? Why would he be hurt? If it’s just some flesh wound, Nancy wouldn’t be this scared, he must be seriously injured!’
Nell did not have time to think anymore. She quickly ran out of the manor with only her phone. She did not even bother to take her bag.
Nancy told her through the phone that Gideon was hurt on the east side of the beach but did not tell her exactly where, so she headed to that direction and anxiously looked around.
Fortunately, their manor was not far away from the beach.
A while later, Nell arrived but what she saw were a boundless sea and a quiet beach. Not even a single soul was around, let alone her man’s figure.
She could not help but frown. She quickly made a call to Nancy but before she could press dial, a loud “bang” sounded behind her.
Frightened, she turned around and noticed an old raft on the beach had suddenly exploded.
Then, a small silver robot, only as tall as her calves, walked out from the scene and headed toward her.
Nell was shocked as the explosion had made her mind blank.
Before she could even react properly, the robot was already in front of her and it raised its arms toward her, presenting her with a letter.
Nell remained frightened as she unconsciously received the letter.
The robot then spoke in a rather pleasant voice, “Turn left, walk straight. He’s waiting for you there.”
Nell was shocked again.
‘He? Who’s he?’
Speculations started to fill her mind but she could not pinpoint the exact situation.
She quickly opened up the letter and saw some strong handwriting. Who else could it be from if not that man?
“Turn left, walk straight.”
The message might be short but she recognized his handwriting at first glance.
Up until this point, how could she not know what her man was trying to do?
She did not know whether to cry or to laugh but at the same time, the anxiety and worry in her heart faded.
She followed the instructions on the letter and turned left.
The beach was semi-circle shaped, circling Mt. Herma and maybe because someone had cleared the place, there was no one else on the beach. She walked along on the sands whereas her heart felt sweet and nervous at the same time.
A while later, she reached the mountain foot and she was already at the end of the beach. Any further and she would have to swim with the fishes.
