Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 204

“A couple like us would just shed all pretense of cordiality and part on bitter terms if we don’t work out. Shouldn’t you hope that I’ll be lied to and continue to be used by him, and finally end up covered in dirt and grime, before you come back to laugh at me?

“Why are you trying to do good deeds to accumulate virtue and try to secretly sow discord now? What’s in it for you? Could it be that… You still like me? You can’t see me getting along with Gideon Leith?”

Nell flashed him a smile that did not look like a smile.

Jason’s throat stagnated.

Her sharp eyes seemed to see through something.

He quickly dropped his head and said solemnly, “Nell! I’m genuinely warning you, so don’t think I’m joking.”

Nell nodded in earnest.

“Okay, I get it. So you really do still have lingering affections for me. You hope that I’ll split up with Gideon Leith and get back together with you?”

Jason. “...”

Nell clicked her tongue twice and shook her head.

“Unfortunately, there’s an old saying that a good horse doesn’t go back to the same pasture. Jason Morton, you were the one who let me down. Even if I break up with Gideon Leith, it’s impossible for me to like you again, so what are you so blindly working for?”

For some reason, Jason’s heart stirred up inexplicably at her airy words.

His heart beat hard and fast like dense little raindrops.

He licked his dry lips and said in a low voice, “I’m not expecting you to come back to me. I… I know that you hate me, so I don’t dare to expect anything. I just hope that you won’t get hurt again. You can just think of it as me repaying what I owed you.”

Nell suddenly found his words hilarious, but she restrained herself.

She controlled her expression and said seriously, “Alright, I get it. If there’s nothing else, you can leave now!”

Jason looked at her, wanting to say something but hesitating.

In the end, he did not say anything and turned to leave.

It was not until the lounge door completely closed and the person outside walked far away that she let herself go and laughed heartily.

Nancy walked in from outside and was a little puzzled when she saw Nell trembling with laughter.

“Nelly? What’s wrong with you? Why are you laughing so hard?”

Nell waved her hand and forced her laughter to stop. “It’s nothing much. I just encountered something particularly funny.”

Nancy was very curious. “What thing?”

“Jason Morton came in earlier. Guess what he told me.”

Nancy paused before shaking her head

“I can’t guess.”

Nell then smiled and told her everything that just happened.

After listening, Nancy looked speechless.

“He’s crazy! What does he take you for? Does he think he can tell you to come and go as he pleases? He even tried to stir up your relationship with Mr. Leith. Does he think he’s noble and that you should be grateful to him?”

Nell laughed her head off. After a long time, she patted her chest to smoothen out her breath, and smiled. “That might be true! However, he probably didn’t expect that I already knew about it, so he seemed pretty disappointed when he left.”

Nancy scoffed.

“How could the hallowed young master of the Morton family, with a vicious and petty mind to the point of sowing discord, be worthy of being compared to Mr. Leith? What a joke!”

Nell shook her head. “Even as a joke, he’ll only be funny for a day or two. Forget it, I can’t be bothered with him either. Oh, right, Nancy, did Gideon go back to the capital a few days ago?”
