“Uh?”
When Karen heard that, her expression changed in fright.
The two hurriedly took the child's temperature. It was 38.5 degrees.
Janet suddenly did not feel good. Fortunately, Karen was experienced and hurriedly calmed her down. "Don't panic. The child's fever of 38.5 degrees isn’t too serious. Let's go to the hospital now. Everything's going to be fine."
Janet nodded blankly.
Since she drank alcohol that night, she could not drive.
The worst part was Karen could not drive either.
The villa they lived in was considered to be located in a wealthy area. Taxis were passing by but it was at least a ten-minute walk to the outside road to get a taxi.
It was closer to Fengqiao Villa from here which was around five to six minutes but since it was so late, it was not a good idea to interrupt others and secondly, she did not know if Nell and the others were back.
Janet carried her child anxiously as Karen comforted her while trying to use her mobile phone to get a taxi.
However, even if there was a taxi in the middle of the night, it would take more than ten minutes.
At this moment, Janet suddenly saw a black Land Rover parked not far away.
The car looked familiar and there was a little glow in the driver's car seat, like someone smoking a cigarette.
Her expression changed as she gritted her teeth and ran toward the car with the child in her arms.
"Ms. Hancock, where are you going?"
Karen quickly followed behind
She ran to the Land Rover and knocked on the door vigorously a few times.
The car door opened, revealing the man's cold and wild face.
It was Liam Jackman!
She should have been angry when she saw this face, but at this time, she saw him as a savior who fell from the sky and teared up.
"Liam, take me to the hospital, I beg you, hurry up!"
Liam frowned.
He glanced at the child in her arms and his expression changed. Then, he threw the cigarette butt out of the window.
He did not say anything or asked anything, and said in a deep voice, "Get in the car!"
With the child in her arms, Janet quickly got into the passenger seat.
Karen also followed suit and was a little surprised to see her getting into a stranger's car.
Janet did not have time to explain to her at that moment and only signaled to her to get into the car quickly and they rushed to the hospital.
After all, Liam’s background was a racecar driver and drag racing was his strength.
At this time, he ignored the red lights and sped all the way which shortened the half-hour drive to only ten minutes.
They soon arrived at the hospital.
Janet handed the child to the doctor and the test results came out quickly.
The child caught a cold and was a little sick. Besides that, his skin and iris were yellow, which was predicted to be jaundice. However, it could only be confirmed after a further examination.
Janet's face turned pale when she heard of jaundice and she slumped onto the chair.
The doctor consoled her. "It’s not uncommon for newborns to have jaundice. Although this child got it later, it may not be a bad thing. It’s detected early and generally not dangerous."
Only then did Janet felt a little relieved.
The tiny bundle was quickly taken away by the doctor for another check-up and was given medicine to reduce the fever.
Janet followed them closely for fear that something might happen to the child.
Moreover, the child caught a cold at home and had a fever. Karen was guilty and self-blamed because of the poor care she had given. She did not even have the courage to look at Janet.
Liam had roughly understood the entire story, but compared to Janet and Karen's depressed mood, he seemed to be much calmer.
