Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 322

Harrison’s sonorous and clear voice was heard moments of entering the room.

There were many people seated in the living room. Among them were not only the Garrett family but those who came to offer their best wishes for the return of Harrison’s daughter.

It was a norm to muddy the waters in the capital. However, a slight rustle of the wind could easily blow any news up.

Nell and Gideon came later and by the time they arrived, the Grahams and Fosters were already there.

With a face of reluctance, Joel was pulled over to sit with his father, Xavier Foster.

His eyes lit up at the sight of Nell and Gideon walking in from outside.

“Brother, sister-in-law, you’re here.”

Gideon walked over hand-in-hand with Nell.

The housekeeper to the Garretts was an old man named Collins. He had been attending to guests in the living room and overlooked keeping an eye on the entrance.

With Gideon approaching, he immediately advanced forth and smiled apologetically. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know Young Master Leith had graced us with your presence. Please accept my apologies for not welcoming you at the door.”

Gideon grinned and faintly replied, “Mr. Collins, don’t worry about it. The Leiths and Garretts are old friends. I used to come by a lot when I was younger, so I’m not some outsider.”

At the side, someone immediately joked. “Yes, come to think about it, a prenatal betrothal was set up between Young Master Leith and Miss Garrett. They both would’ve been a couple by now if it weren’t for that incident, so really, there’s no need...”

Before the person could finish, the living room fell into dead silence.

The person who spoke was a fair lady of one of the families.

Sensing the sudden quietness in the room, the woman first was in a daze but quickly realized what had happened. As color drained from her face, she covered her mouth.

Beside her, her husband darted a vicious glare at her.

Soon, he came up to offer apologies with a smile.

“I’m really sorry, Young Master Leith and Mrs. Leith. It was a slip of the tongue, an unintended mistake. She didn’t mean it that way.”

Nell grinned.

“It’s fine, Chairman James. Mrs. James was only telling the truth and really, there’s nothing to hide. Moreover, Gideon and I are married, so of course, we won’t fuss over this.”

With Chairman James’ mind at rest, he offered a few words of flattering pleasantries.

Old Master Garrett was pushing eighty this year and had not been in the best of health due to a condition inflicted during the war when he was young.

At present, he was sitting on the sofa, gazing at the young couple who had come in. It took a while before he chimed in.

“Deon and wife are here. Come, let me take a look.”

Gideon pulled Nell to walk over.

Despite the similarity in age, Old Master Garrett looked rather hoary compared to Old Master Leith and Old Madam Quinton.

He lifted his head to look at the young pair. His weather-beaten face revealed a gratifying smile.

“Good, great. It’s been a while since Deon was here. How are you?”

Gideon answered, “All is good, thanks to you.”

“That’s great.

The old man patted his hand and sighed with emotion. “Your grandfather and grandmother came the last time but I got into a row with your grandfather. He’s given me the cold shoulder the past two days. You should help me reason with him and tell him to stop being so stubborn!”

Gideon smiled.

“Okay.”
