Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 357

Celine started to cry again as she spoke.

“I’m sorry, grandpa. I really didn’t expect it to turn out like this in the end. It’s all my fault. I embarrassed you and even offended the entire Leith family. I’m sorry.”

Celine apologized repeatedly although she had said those words countless times to the point where she was about to vomit.

However, she knew that she had to lower herself and put on a show in front of Old Master Garrett.

At the very least, she could not let him be disappointed in her and give her up.

Sure enough, Old Master Garrett looked at her and said coldly, “Do you know what your biggest mistake today was?”

Celine was stunned.

She stared at him blankly and shook her head.

“Your biggest mistake was not dealing with it with a killing blow, leaving the other party with breathing room and an opportunity to turn around to attack with you.”

He sighed and said, “It wasn’t that bad today since it was just a child and had nothing to do with family interests. However, if you want to deal with someone in the future, you must remember to strike where it hurts. Either you don’t do anything, or you strike a deadly blow, never giving the enemy room to maneuver. Otherwise, not only will you easily lose all the progress you made up to that point, but you’ll likely lose the advantage of the situation and end up inviting trouble, understand?”

Celine froze.

She looked at Old Master Garrett as if she could not believe the words that came out from his mouth.

Old Master Garrett gave a chilling laugh.

“No need to be surprised. Since you’ve entered our family and are now a member of the Garretts, you’ll understand these truths sooner or later.

“Since ancient times, no one in a high position has ever had completely clean hands. Some means are always needed to consolidate their family and status.

“Don’t just look at how the Leith family puts up an upright and high-and-mighty front. In reality, the bad things that grandfather and his grandson have done are no less than grandpa.

“Over the years, if it weren’t for the fact that Gideon Leith had been constantly expanding his territory and eating away on the power of several families outside, why would we have to resort to using marriage to ensure our safety?

“We were forced to this point. I’m old and will end up leaving any day now. The family will have to rely on your two uncles to run the family, but although they’re very smart, they don’t use their wisdom when dealing with outsiders. They only consume themselves blindly in the internal fighting.

“The reason why I called you here and gave you some shares is so you can play the role of a binder in the future. I know you can do it. You’re smart and no worse than your two uncles. As long as your heart is dedicated to the Garretts, grandpa won’t bother with anything else you do, understand?”

Celine’s heart shook as she nodded.

“I understand, grandpa.”

Old Master Garrett closed his eyes tiredly and waved his hand.

“Alright, I’m tired. Go out and tell the nurse to come in.”

Celine respectfully agreed and turned to walk out.

On the other side, Lizzy followed Nell home. After taking a bath, she lay in bed and asked Nell to tell her a story.

Since the little one had suffered a fright today, Nell did not want her to sleep alone and planned to stay with her for the night.

After finishing the story, the little dumpling suddenly asked, “Mummy, did Auntie Celine push Lizzy into the water because Lizzy shouldn’t have overheard her talking to Uncle Garrett?”

Nell was stunned.

She said gently, “Didn’t you say that she didn’t say anything to your Uncle Garrett?”

The little dumpling frowned.

“They didn’t say anything, but I felt like their expressions were weird. They looked like bad people.”

Nell was slightly startled.
