Old Master Garrett immediately flew into a rage.
“What did you say? Say it again!”
With a lift of her chin, Stephanie got angry as well. “I said, I won’t agree to it!”
“You!”
He covered his chest as he flushed with anger. Seeing this, Stephanie got a shock and hurriedly brought him his medicine.
“Grandpa, how are you? Quick, eat this!”
The old man swatted her away with a slap and bellowed, “Why do you care if I’m alive or dead when you’re so disobedient? If I die, wouldn’t it be a weight off your chest? Who else would force or control you in the future?”
Stephanie’s heart soured, but looking at this complexion, she did not dare to argue back.
Though she said sorrowfully, “Grandpa, I don’t like Nathan Graham and don’t want to marry him. I was just speaking from my heart. In your heart, is the happiness of your children and grandchildren not as important as those superficial powers and rights?”
Old Master Garrett glared at her, not speaking.
Seeing this, Stephanie knew that he would not listen to her, and her heart gradually sank.
Fortunately, the Old Master was so angry that it made him a little short of breath earlier. He felt much better after slowing down.
Stephanie stood up, wiped her tears, and looked at him calmly.
“Grandpa, I’m sure you already know that Celine Jennings isn’t the child that mom lost back then, right?”
Old Master Garrett’s body jolted.
His expression shifted.
He glared at Stephanie and said in a low voice, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Stephanie gave a wry smile.
“You don’t have to play dumb. Not only do you know about this, everyone else in the family knows too, but you still continued to act in this little play with everyone else and let her enter the Garrett family. It is all because you think she’s the kind of person who’s ambitious yet can be manipulated.
“Like you, she’s someone who would do anything for benefits. If she becomes your granddaughter, she’ll be tied to the Garrett family in the same boat, and she’ll do her best to win over the Graham family for her own sake.
“Furthermore, she has a deep grudge with Nell Jennings. In the future, if the Garretts and the Leiths really end up in conflict, she can just stick to the Garretts, and the Garretts can just rely on her status in the Graham family. The two families would complement each other.”
She pursed her lips and paused for two seconds before she continued, “But grandpa, what if I told you that mom’s child really didn’t die and has been living right beside us the entire time? Would you still make the decisions you’re making now?”
Old Master Garrett shook violently!
He stared at Stephanie in disbelief. His pale lips trembled slightly, and only after a long while did he ask in a shaky voice, “You… What did you say?”
Stephanie looked at him calmly and enunciated her words. “I said, she’s still alive, and she’s around us.”
Old Master Garrett was utterly shocked.
His old eyes were filled with astonishment.
Stephanie continued, “I saw her with my own eyes. There was a butterfly-shaped birthmark on her back. When mom was alive, she told me that this birthmark was very special and that there wasn’t another one in the whole world. At that time, she even jokingly said that the child was the incarnation of a butterfly fairy. That’s why I knew it was her the moment I saw it.”
