Gideon realized that Nell had indeed been oblivious toward Gregory’s status and proceeded to explain, “Gregory Graham is Harrison Graham’s second son. He’s also Harrison’s illegitimate child. As Gregory isn’t accepted by the elders in the family, he spends most of his years growing up overseas and will only return here once every couple of years. It must be a huge coincidence that upon his return you just so happened to bump into him.”
Nell was taken aback by surprise.
She could only feel her mind hollowing out. It was only after a while before she could fully take in what Gideon had just revealed to her.
“You mean… He’s actually from the Graham family?”
Gideon frowned and answered, “Yes.”
Nell was gripping tightly onto her own fingers.
Gideon continued. “So, what did he tell you yesterday?”
Nell looked at him. Her lips moved a little but she did not say anything.
She did not know how to best explain her relationship with Gregory to Gideon. She did not want to recall her memories with Gregory, but she did not want to lie to Gideon either!
Nell struggled to utter the right words. Gideon had understood her too well. A glimpse at Nell was all it took to understand what her concerns were.
“Have you all known each other before?”
Nell hesitated for a moment before finally nodding her head.
“Yes.”
“How do you know each other?”
Nell remained silent.
It was not that she refused to confess. She genuinely did not know how to describe their relationship.
Nell’s recollection of their encounter was so messy that even she could not remember everything. Yet, if she had admitted her inability to recall, it would only seem more suspicious.
Moreover, their past had contained an unspoken secret…
Nell remained silent. Gideon waited awhile for a response before his expressions returned to one of indifference.
“It’s alright, I respect your privacy. You can just tell me when you’ve decided to.”
He stood up and left. Although his demeanor was not aggressive and his expressions were still as gentle as usual, Nell could sense the subtle anger that resided within him.
After Gideon left, Nell made her way to the office as well.
Regarding the incident, Xinghui Culture had made a press release on her behalf stating that the incident was merely a harmless joke between Nell and a friend and that the incident had nothing to do with Nell cheating on her husband!
After all, Nell was a married woman. The issue with Gideon aside, if a rumor like this went uncontrolled, it would do no good to her reputation.
On the bright side, it seemed that the rumors were just Gregory’s threat to her. He did not intend to blow this out of proportion. Once Xinghui Culture had explained the situation, Gregory’s secondary account had also made a similar statement, encouraging the public to not take the incident seriously.
Unsurprisingly, his secondary account did not have many followers.
However, the popularity of the news had caused his post to be shared virally across social media.
With that, the rumor had soon died down.
After the incident, Nell made a phone call to Gregory and started cursing wildly at him.
Gregory was not mad at all. He had even laughed and joined in to hurl insults at himself.
It had made Nell regain her composure.
At last, Gregory said calmly, “Do you still remember what I’ve taught you many years ago? There’s always a price to pay for disobedience. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to risk losing everything you’ve got now, do you?”
Nell massaged her forehead and grinded her teeth. She asked, “What the hell do you want from me?”
Gregory merely let out lighthearted laughter and said, “With a tone like that, how am I going to be able to tell you the truth?”
Nell suppressed her raging anger, lowered her voice, and said, “Fine. So tell me, what do you want?”
