Nell’s head hurt.
It felt like someone had cleaved her head open with an ax.
She was physically tired too, and there was a nagging pain in the back of her head.
Wrapped in a blanket, she groaned in agony. Instinctively, she reached out a hand to shake the person next to her and called with her eyes closed, “Gideon…”
A long time had passed but nobody answered.
Something was definitely wrong. Slowly, Nell opened her eyes.
The room was dimly lit. The minimalistic decor and the black and white stripes that formed part of the room’s design was totally unfamiliar to her.
Where was she?
Her memories gradually resurfaced in her mind. She vaguely recalled them as she scanned her surroundings. When she noticed a restaurant logo at the bedside table, a sudden realization occurred to her and she was jolted awake.
She was at Musi Hotel!
Appalled, Nell sat up immediately. It was then that she realized there was someone else on the bed.
Gregory Graham!
Her face went white as a sheet!
At the same time, Gregory woke up too and a wrinkle appeared between his eyebrows. At first, he was surprised to see the woman sitting in front of him, but then, he smiled.
“Little Seven, you didn’t have to resort to such drastic measures if you want to sleep with me. Spiking my drink and leading me here? Tsk tsk, you’re so direct, but I like it.”
“Shut up!”
Nell was furious.
She cupped her head and tried to think. After that, she turned her head swiftly to realize that her handbag and phone were still there.
She quickly picked up her phone and checked the message that Janet had sent to her earlier.
The text was still there and the number was undoubtedly hers.
She was still rather pale as her fingers trembled. She hesitated but eventually made the phone call.
The phone rang for a while before someone answered.
“Nelly.”
Janet’s voice appeared on the other end. She sounded pleasant and cheerful.
A dry sensation lingered in Nell’s throat. She paused for a few seconds before she asked, “Are you alright?”
“Me? Of course, I’m alright. What could happen to me?”
There was a hint of laughter in Janet’s voice — the complete opposite of how helpless she sounded earlier.
When Nell did not respond, Janet asked curiously, “Nelly, are you ok? What’s the matter?”
Nell chuckled nervously.
“Nothing.”
“In that case, why did you ask whether I was alright?”
“I…” She pursed her lips and continued after she swallowed, “I had a bad dream. It’s fine if you’re alright. I have something else to attend to. Bye.”
Janet listened and laughed. She also comforted Nell before she hung up.
The room then sank into an eerie silence.
Nell could sense the palpitation of her heart as she was struck with terror and confusion.
She squeezed her phone tightly and noticed that the several missed calls on her screen were from Gideon.
Until now, she did not understand what was going on.
However, she could predict the outcome.
Someone had set her up and led her into this trap to destroy her completely!
Janet’s phone call was a dud.
It was not rocket science. Janet’s phone number and the unclear voice message could be developed via certain software.
