After Bailey left the building, he immediately went to the hospital.
Upon learning that Gideon Leith would be fine, he felt truly relieved.
At this time, inside the VIP ward.
Nell opened her eyes and instinctively lifted her blankets to get out of bed, but was stopped by a nurse.
“Miss, your pregnancy is at risk. You need more rest.”
The nurse tried to help her lie down, however Nell gripped her arm and asked, “Gideon Leith, has he woken up?”
Bailey, who was just about to enter with some supplements for her, overheard the question. Pain flooded his heart, and a sting rose in his eyes.
The first thing sister-in-law cared about when she woke up was not herself.
Bailey took a deep breath. Soon, his expression turned normal. He walked in with a soft smile. Looking at Nell, who was still insisting on going out, he pacified her.
“Big brother is doing fine. He has just undergone a major surgery, so he is still in a coma. Sister-in-law, don’t worry, you must take care of yourself first. That way, when he wakes up, he will feel relieved.”
Nell unconsciously lowered her eyes and stroked her abdomen with her fingertips. Her anxious heart gradually calmed down.
Now that she was no longer just a single individual, she should take good care of herself. Then, when he woke up, she would be able to tell him that she was carrying his child.
The corner of Nell’s eyes crinkled slightly. She was imagining the surprised look on Gideon’s face when he found out about this.
Seeing that Nell’s emotions have stabilized, Bailey glanced at the nurse to signal that she may leave. It was enough for him to be there.
After the nurse left, Bailey made Nell eat her breakfast. Many events had happened lately, and she ate very little. Not only did she need the nutrients, her baby also needed them.
Nell fought hard to suppress her worry for Gideon. After eating, she wanted to visit him personally. Bailey knew that he could not stop her, so he brought her there.
“I want to accompany him. You guys can go out.”
Nell sat quietly beside Gideon’s bed. Staring at the pale skin on his face, her heart ached even more. Even her voice turned hoarse.
“Alright, we’ll wait outside. If there’s anything, just let us know.”
Bailey and the others agreed and went outside so as to not disturb them.
Nell held Gideon’s hand lightly. The moment she held on to his hand, all the tiredness she experienced for the past few days diminished. She felt safe once again.
She leaned her body next to his and rested against him.
Gideon Leith, you must get well soon!
You must get better. Both our child and I are both waiting for you.
Gideon finally woke up the next day, in the evening.
The twilight sun shined through the window, bathing the entire room in a golden glow.
When he opened his eyes, he saw someone sitting by his bedside, their head lowered, seemingly peeling an apple.
She was so focused that she did not realize he was awake.
He looked around and saw that there was already a number of peeled fruits lined up neatly by his bedside. He wondered how long she had been sitting here and peeling fruits.
Gideon felt his heart melt.
Nell was born exquisite. Naturally, she also looked stunning when she worked.
A wave of tenderness rose in his heart. He raised a needle-stuck hand, and his slender fingers grazed across Nell’s wrist. “Nelly.”
Nell froze momentarily.
Her back snapped straight up. She turned around. It was an incredibly pale, but definitely awake, Gideon Leith.
He woke up!
The next moment, without waiting for the man on the bed to react, she pulled him into a tight embrace. “Gideon.”
Despite Nell’s petite frame, she was engulfing a big man like him in a hug.
She held onto him with impressive strength. She wished that she could somehow encase him within her bones, merged into her bloodstream, so that he could be with her forever.
“…Nelly!”
